Janeane Garofalo Didn’t Know She Was Married For 20 Years

Janeane Garofalo may have found the solution to getting married and staying married in Hollywood. Simply get married on a drunken dare in Las Vegas and then forget about your vows for the next 20 years. Garafalo wed The Big Bang Theory producer Rob Cohen back in the 1990s and then never thought about the marriage again.

Garofalo says of her vows:

“Rob and I got married, for real, which we had to have a notary dissolve not 30 minutes before we got here tonight. We were married for 20 years until this evening.”

The actress then added:

“We got married drunk in Vegas … We dated for a year, and we got married at a drive-through chapel in a cab. [We thought] you have to go down to the courthouse and sign papers and stuff, so who knew? We were married, and apparently now that [Rob] is getting married for real, his lawyer dug up something.”

Cohen was preparing to wed Jimmy Kimmel producer Jill Leiderman when the news was dug up.

Funny fact, Wikipedia showed the couple as married, and they both thought it was a 20 year old joke.

When asked by Judd Apatow if either of the partners benefits from their marriage, Cohen joked:

“I’m gonna get all of that ‘Reality Bites’ money!”

Garofalo and Cohen continue to remain friends, which is more than we can say for most Hollywood marriages that last one year, let alone 20 years.

So there you have it: If you want to stay married in Hollywood, you just need to forget for 20 years that you were ever wed.
