Locker room meltdown. Cleveland Browns style

I guess boys will be boys, even in the NFL, and even when there is press in the room. Apparently after a spirited practice Friday day Cleveland Browns Rookie CB Coye Francies was the victim of a prank. Francies was soaked with water by his fellow teammates and then lost his mind, throwing ice buckets around the locker room and attempting to throw a punch at, at least one of his teammates. Francies was eventually subdued by Browns Nose Tackle Shaun Rogers and escorted out of the locker room.

While this may be just be a little rookie hazing, it might also be the first sings of cracks within the Browns locker room. Head Coach Erin Mangini was concerned that there might be something deeper and immediately investigated the incident. As it turns out it may have been a case of Young Francies overreacting to some good natured ribbing from his teammates, but Browns fans have reason to be concerned.

This team has suffered two loses so far in 2009, and both came with a second half collapse. There have also been a lot of stories and rumors coming from the Browns locker room about the toughness of Mangini, and that many of his players don’t exactly love their new Coach.

For now the team has tried to put this behind them and focus in on the Baltimore Ravens, but one has to ponder is this a symptom of a, much larger problem for the Browns?
