Halo 3: ODST suffering disc-read errors, say users

Halo 3: ODST enjoyed an auspicious start to its life on store shelves, selling almost one million copies within its first 24 hours.

That impressive debut has been slightly dulled, however, by reports that several players are experiencing technical issues with the game. A lively thread full of narked Halo 3: ODST players has been started at Bungie.net, all of who are suffering from disc-read errors that make the game unplayable.

The errors only affect ODST‘s Campaign and Firefight mode, though some forumites have discovered that copying the game to your Xbox 360’s hard drive can solve the problem.

Bungie has since told Joystiq it is looking into the issue, though it seems a fair proportion of ODST owners have been affected: at the time of writing, a Joystiq poll reveals that 31% of players have suffered from disc-read errors. Are you one of them? If so, let us know!
