‘WWE Monday Night Raw’ Results: Samoa Joe Debuts With Triple H, Lesnar Challenges Goldberg At ‘WrestleMania 33’

Although he didn’t show up during the Royal Rumble Match like most people expected, Samoa Joe finally made his main roster debut by attacking Seth Rollins as he went after Triple H in the final segment of this week’s WWE Monday Night Raw. With big names like Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, The Undertaker and even Roman Reigns taking part in the biggest battle royal of the year, it was a surprise for most of the WWE Universe when Randy Orton (of SmackDown LIVE) won the 30-man marathon match at the close of Royal Rumble 2017.

While the red brand still has WWE Fastlane 2017 to deal with in March, it was clear that the Road to WrestleMania 33 was already underway during this week’s WWE Raw. Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar laid out the first official challenge for this year’s WrestleMania when they showed up unexpectedly to Raw after a very disappointing performance in the Royal Rumble Match.

NOTE: The WWE Monday Night Raw results were be updated here in real-time as the show aired live, along with available video highlights and commentary. Any updates to the upcoming WWE Fastlane 2017 card were posted here as well.

WWE Monday Night Raw Results

The following includes the results of all the matches and segments from WWE Raw on January 30, which aired live from the Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas. In the final week of 2016, Raw lost the “ratings war” with the blue brand for the first time since the separate rosters were established. However, SmackDown LIVE hasn’t won again since the new year. Will the first new programming since Royal Rumble 2017 be enough for Stephanie and Mick to earn another win against SmackDown LIVE on Tuesday nights?

Mick Foley booked Kevin Owens vs. Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman interrupted Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho during their in-ring promo to remind them that Owens promised Strowman a title shot last month. Once video footage confirmed this, General Manager Mick Foley came out to book the title match for this week’s Monday Night Raw.

Sami Zayn defeated Chris Jericho

Both Sami Zayn and the WWE United States Champion Chris Jericho had rather lengthy stays in this year’s Royal Rumble Match, but put on a great singles match less than 24 hours later. Zayn got the pinfall victory after connecting with the Helluva Kick, which makes him an obvious contender for Y2J’s U.S. Title.

Charlotte, Anderson & Gallows interrupted Bayley, Cesaro & Sheamus

As Bayley was trying to get Cesaro and Sheamus to put their animosity aside for the upcoming 6-Person Mixed Tag Team Match, they were interrupted by their opponents. Charlotte Flair called all three of them failures, while Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson reminded them that they’re all “nerds.”

Tony Nese defeated Mustafa Ali

The only Cruiserweight Division match of the night saw Tony Nese get a solid victory over Mustafa Ali. Post-match, when Austin Aries interviewed him about his critics saying that Nese lacked charisma, he said that the premiere athlete doesn’t have to answer to his critics.

Seth Rollins called out Triple H — Stephanie McMahon responded

After Seth Rollins called out Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, he reminded her that he really just wanted Triple H. After insulting (and borderline threatening) the McMahon-Helmsley family, Stephanie said that Triple H was on his way to Raw to meet Seth Rollins face-to-face.

Bayley, Cesaro & Sheamus defeated Charlotte, Anderson & Gallows

This inter-gender tag team match ended when Bayley reversed Charlotte Flair’s attempt to set up the Figure Eight and ended up hitting a Bayley-To-Belly Suplex.

Rich Swann interrupted Neville

As Neville was cutting an in-ring promo about winning the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Royal Rumble 2017, he was interrupted by Rich Swann, who reminded Neville that he would be getting his rematch soon.

Roman Reigns interfered in Kevin Owens vs. Braun Strowman

As Braun Strowman looked like he was about to defeat Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship, Roman Reigns came to the ring to get his revenge for Strowman’s interference at Royal Rumble 2017. Reigns did quite a number on Strowman, and it looks like their new feud is far from over. Of course, Roman didn’t hesitate from getting his hands on Owens at the same time.

Brock Lesnar showed up unannounced

With his advocate Paul Heyman doing all of the talking, Brock Lesnar made an unexpected appearance at Monday Night Raw in Laredo. Lesnar officially challenged Goldberg to a Survivor Series rematch at WrestleMania 33.

Nia Jax defeated Sasha Banks

Ignoring Bayley’s advice to wait until she was healthier to go after Nia Jax, Sasha Banks took a beating on Monday Night Raw. The referee called the match when it was clear that Banks was in no shape to continue. When Jax continued her onslaught after the bell rang, Bayley came to the ring to make the save.

Enzo & Big Cass defeated Rusev & Jinder Mahal

In a Tornado Tag Team Match, it was Enzo Amore who got the pinfall victory for his team after Colin Cassady assisted with their patented Bada Boom Shakalaka on Rusev.

Triple H called out Seth Rollins — Samoa Joe attacked Seth Rollins

After cutting an in-ring promo that explained the history between himself and Seth Rollins, Triple H called out The Architect to settle things face-to-face. As Rollins made his way to the ring, however, he was cut off by a surprise attack from Samoa Joe. Many WWE fans were disappointed that Joe didn’t show up in the Royal Rumble Match. It looks like Triple H and the WWE had other plans for the former two-time NXT Champion.

The above WWE Raw results have been corroborated by WWE’s official Monday Night Raw page.
