Leslie Knope’s dreams have finally come true. Joe Biden is to appear on the NBC comedy, Parks and Recreation.
Parks and Recreation, which stars Amy Poehler, as Knope, plays a democratic fan girl who last season, took her shot at running for City Council of Pawnee, Indiana . On her to-do list is appropriately, Vice President Joe Biden. Now, it looks like Knope may get her wish as it’s said that Biden’s appearance, which is said to be a brief cameo, will occur in the beginning of the episode, which airs November 15.
The scene is said to be between Leslie Knope’s love interest Ben Wyant (Adam Scott), and Leslie Knope. It happens when Ben takes his fiancee and City Councilwoman to the White House to meet America’s second in charge, and her number one crush. In a recent episode, Knope admitted that her perfect guy has, “the brains of George Clooney and the body of Joe Biden.”
With that description alone, the Joe Biden appearance should be a hilarious encounter, if not awkward. Recently, President Obama admitted that he watches Poehler’s Parks and Recreation with his family. However, according to executive producer Michael Schur, who spoke with Entertainment Weekly, Leslie’s meeting with Joe Biden is more significant to the character:
“[Leslie] has a lot of female heroes that cross party lines. She has a lot of social figures that she considers heroes, but the funniest hero is Joe Biden. There’s an episode last season where she says, ‘Joe Biden is on my celebrity sex list — well, he is my celebrity sex list’… It was amazing to have her meet Olympia Snowe and Barbara Boxer because that meant something to her politically. But this transcends that. She’s meeting the man that she’s in love with on some deep level. It was a bigger deal to us in some ways that she meet Joe Biden than it was that she meet Barack Obama.”
