eRepublik Labs team grows to over 40 people

Madrid, 22nd September 2009.- eRepublik Labs, the company behind the popular massively multiplayer online social strategy game, eRepublik, announced today that its team has grown to over 40 people thanks to organic growth and AGF Private Equity’s investment during the latest round of funding.

The tech team has grown to 19 people in various areas including development, quality assurance and technical operations. This has included one of the newest members, Carsten Kisslat, an experienced game designer, writer and producer who joined eRepublik Labs last July as Lead Game Designer.

These changes have increased George Lemnaru’s responsibilities and so the Co-founder of eRepublik Labs will move on to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). “From my new position I’ll be able to concentrate more on making sure that the team executes faster and that operations run smoothly, thus making the game experience for our players even more satisfactory,” states Lemnaru.

“The growth in size of the tech team and the acceleration of the development pace of the eRepublik platform has also required having a CTO that could focus 100% on the tech side,” comments Alexis Bonte, Co-founder and CEO of eRepublik.

“Taking that into account, and after an extensive search, we selected Silviu Lucian Vacaroiu, a key member of the tech team in a variety of roles from almost day one, and someone we could all agree would be the best person for the position of Chief Technical Officer (CTO),” adds Bonte.

Vacaroiu brings broad experience to the eRepublik Team. He became involved with tech and web development at a young age while interning and ultimately working full-time for a Bucharest-base VoIP startup. This was followed by the development, maintenance and collaboration of many apps while outsourcing for companies in the US and UK. Finally, Vacaroiu joined the eRepublik Team in February of 2008 as a web-developer.
