Steve Nash Injury: Lakers Guard Expects To Play Versus Clippers

Steve Nash’s debut with the Los Angeles Lakers hasn’t gone according to plan. The team has lost its first two games, and last night the former Suns’ guard suffered a leg injury.

According to ESPN, Nash was injured toward the end of the second quarter when he collided with Portland rookie Damian Lillard. Nash caught a knee to the lower leg and had to be taken out of the game. Nash tried to play in the second half, but the injury forced him to return to the bench.

Nash said:

“It was sore but I went out to try and play and then I planted on it and it just kind of gave out on me … It was sore and functionally I couldn’t plant on it, or push off on it, or accelerate. I’ve had contusions before but not necessarily in this spot … It’s kind of frustrating.”

The Lakers have the night off but will play tomorrow against cross town rivals the Los Angeles Clippers. Nash said that he’ll re-evaluate his injury before the game but said that he was hopeful that he’ll be on the court.

Nash said:

“I guess I wouldn’t want to say right now but I’m definitely hopeful.”

During his first two games as a Los Angeles Laker, Steve Nash has averaged 4.5 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds.

Do you think Nash will return to the lineup on Friday?
