Selena Gomez Is Not Distancing Herself From Taylor Swift After Rehab [Debunked]

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift haven’t been seen together in several months, but that doesn’t mean there is trouble in paradise for the longtime friends.

Although a new report suggests that Selena Gomez had been distancing herself from the “Wildest Dreams” singer because she allegedly found Swift to be a bad influence on her, Gossip Cop has since set the record straight, claiming Gomez and Swift are still as thick as thieves.

On December 19, a source close to the situation spoke to Gossip Cop and claimed the recent report shared by Radar Online was “totally false.”

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift have been close friends for years and several months ago, they walked the red carpet together at the 2016 Grammy Awards.

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift’s friendship was targeted by Radar Online on December 19. At the time, a source incorrectly revealed that Selena Gomez had refused to attend Swift’s 27th birthday bash after allegedly being advised against doing so by her counselors.

“Since [Selena Gomez] got out of rehab, she has been cutting out all of the bad influences in her life — and that definitely included Taylor,” a source claimed, adding that Swift was allegedly “wild” and claiming that her friendship with Gomez has reportedly “proven toxic” to the star.

“Taylor is always trying to one-up [Selena Gomez], and make it look like Selena is just lucky to be her friend,” the insider said. “Selena is just completely over it.”

The source went on to reveal that Selena Gomez had allegedly thrown shade at Taylor Swift over the summer when she reportedly threw her own 4th of July party instead of attending the celebrity-studded party thrown by Swift at her Rhode Island home. As fans will recall, celebrities in attendance included Swift’s then-boyfriend, Tom Hiddleston, and her many famous friends, including Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively.

“[Selena Gomez] is sober now, and she is doing everything right,” Radar Online‘s source explained. “She is continuing to see a therapist and surround herself with positive influences. Taylor, unfortunately, does not make the cut anymore.”

Selena Gomez took a break from her busy career months ago amid her Revival World Tour, which was ultimately canceled.

“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” Selena Gomez explained in a statement to People Magazine. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

Selena Gomez shared her statement with fans just a couple of weeks after performing a show in Auckland, New Zealand as part of the Oceanic leg of her tour.

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off. Thank you to all my fans for your support,” she continued. “You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”

For months after her statement was released, Selena Gomez remained out of the spotlight as she concentrated on her mental health. Then, in November, she returned to Los Angeles after being spotted in Tennessee and attended the 2016 American Music Awards. During the show, Selena Gomez was awarded with the Best Female Artist: Pop/Rock Award and as she accepted the honor, she spoke of being broken and told fans that no one has to stay broken.
