Zsa Zsa Gabor Dead At 99: Stars React To This Starlet’s Death

Before there was Kim Kardashian and the Kardashian sisters, there was Zsa Zsa Gabor and the beautiful Gabor sisters. Famous for being famous, Zsa Zsa, along with her sisters Eva and Magda, oozed glamour and style. Gabor acted in several movies and even spoofed herself on television, which was truly her best acting performance. She changed the image of women and celebrity and now celebrities are now honoring her after her death at 99 years of age.

Zsa Zsa oozed glamour and with just a fling of her boa, or bedazzled in precious jewelry and a glittering gown, the Hungarian beauty could make an entrance like no other. In addition, she caused controversy like no other. People reported that she once slapped a police officer and was put on probation. When Zsa Zsa broke the terms of her probation, the former Miss Hungary wound up spending three days in jail and later spoofed herself in this act.

There is no doubt that Kim’s former BFF Paris Hilton, who was related to Gabor through Zsa Zsa’s second husband Conrad Hilton, Paris’ great-grandfather, was inspired by Gabor and perhaps even influenced Kim in her career in being famous for the sake of fame. Yet, Gabor did not approve of Paris’ interpretation of celebrity.

“I think she’s rather silly. She does too many things for publicity.”

NPR recently interviewed Kirsten Pullen, a professor at Texas A&M, about Gabor. She is convinced that Gabor was not only an important woman, but she created how women were looked at. She was a leader in creating celebrity for the sake of celebrity.

“She is one of the most important figures of the late 20th century in terms of thinking about celebrity, thinking about women.”

While Kim Kardashian has remained silent on Zsa Zsa’s death, Paris Hilton wrote a touching tribute to her.

“Sad to hear the news of Zsa Zsa Gabor’s passing. My great grandfather and her made such a beautiful couple. May she rest in peace.”

Kim Fields reminisced about working with Zsa Zsa in her tribute tweet.

“It was an amazing pleasure meeting & working with you. Enjoy your beatify least, Beauty. #RIPZsaZsa #FactsofLife #legend.”

Billy Eichner did a word play with Zsa Zsa’s name and linked it to the new Star Wars: Rogue One hit movie that was the past weekend’s blockbuster.

“Zsa Zsa Binks. #RipZsaZsa #StarWars RogueOne”

Of course, Larry King tweeted about her. He made it clear that she was an original and he “liked her a lot!”

“There will only be one Zsa Zsa Gabor. And, I liked her a lot. Rest In Peace, my dear.”

Barbara Eden also wrote about Zsa Zsa. The star of I Dream of Jeannie was obviously personal friends with Zsa Zsa as well as her stunning sisters.

“Rest in peace Zsa Zsa Gabor. She and her sisters were lovely ladies who were always fun and delightful to be around.-B”

Actress Joan Collins reminisced about her friend Zsa Zsa. Back in the day, the Dynasty star and Zsa Zsa lead quite glamorous lives. Obviously, they had a great time together.

“Sorry to hear that Zsa Zsa Gabor has died. Here with Porfirio Rubirosa & Nick Hilton. She was such fun.”

House Beautiful posted on Instagram a memorable quote by Gabor.

“‘I tell you, in this world being a little crazy helps to keep you sane.’ Rest in peace, Zsa Zsa Gabor.”

Lastly, Piers Morgan summed Zsa Zsa nicely mentioning how long she lived, her nine husbands and her glittering accomplishments.

“RIP Zsa Zsa Gabor. 99 years old, 9 husbands, Miss Hungary & Hollywood star. What a life!”
