Ryan Reynolds Joined By Blake Lively And Daughters As He Receives Star

Ryan Reynolds has just received his Hollywood Walk of Fame star and, while some may think the honor is long overdue, that hasn’t kept the Deadpool star’s greatest fans from helping him celebrate. Joining Ryan at the ceremony were his family. Yes, all of them. This was the first time Reynolds and wife Blake Lively have allowed their children to make any kind of an official public appearance and James Reynolds, who will soon reach her second birthday, seemed as excited as her father about the award. Reynolds and Lively kept their children close, while the whole family showed their love for Reynolds, along with a mass of fans eager for a glimpse of the Deadpool star’s new star.

Receiving the honor of a Hollywood Walk of Fame star is certainly a humbling experience, but, as Us Weekly reports, Ryan Reynolds feels the recognition of that award pales in comparison to the joy and love he has found in building a family with Blake Lively. Together, the two have 23-month-old James and their recently born second daughter, whose name has been kept under wraps. In receiving his star, the Deadpool actor spoke of his gratitude for his family and his love for Lively.

“I want to thank my wife, Blake, who is sitting right there, who is everything to me. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me,” Reynolds said. “You make everything better. You make everything in my life better. You’ve given me two of the most incredible children I’ve ever hoped to have.”

Later, little James stole the show and Reynolds’ microphone, which she shook at the gathered crowd, proving a fascination with being the center of attention. James has been likened to mother Blake with her curly blonde hair and her warm smile.

Jess Cagle, who serves as editorial director for both People and Entertainment Weekly, sat down with Ryan Reynolds for a recent interview and, during their talk, the Deadpool star spoke about the great joy he derives from his family. While some aren’t cut out for family life, it seems Reynolds has really taken to it, finding happiness simply from being a husband and father.

Reynolds said he never feels overwhelmed by his active daughters and has hopes of having a larger brood of children together with his wife, Ms. Lively.

“If I could have nine daughters, I would be thrilled,” said Reynolds. “Really, like I genuinely would be.”

While being a father to two daughters has been “a dream come true” for Ryan, he adds that he feels he would make a terrible father to a son. He recalls growing up with three brothers and shares memories of the four of them destroying their parents’ house on many occasions. For that reason, Reynolds says he has difficulty imagining the joys a son might bring.

Reynolds said he never voiced his concerns aloud and never even discussed it with Blake Lively, but he always really wanted a daughter.

“I never admitted it out loud, to myself or my wife, but I really wanted a little girl. It’s the best.”

Having admitted to his misgivings where having a son is concerned, Reynolds does add that he would love a son just as much as he loves his daughters.

“I wonder if we’ll have a boy one day, I wonder how that will go,” said Ryan Reynolds. “A little mini-Deadpool.”

Ryan Reynolds will next be seen on the big screen alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Rebecca Ferguson in the Daniel Espinosa sci-fi thriller, Life, which is due out in theaters on March 24, 2017.
