Does Tom Cruise Think Leah Remini Is ‘Literally The Devil?’ Remini Claims He Does

It is no secret that Leah Remini has completely changed her views about Scientology since she left the faith a few years back. Since this point the King of Queens actress has been very open about her experience while a part of the controversial organization over much of her life. The star went so far as to write a memoir entitled Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology and is now the star of her own documentary, Leah Remini: Scientology And The Aftermath, that seeks to uncover the truth in regards to the faith.

During an interview with Larry King, Remini touched on a subject that has arisen often since she made it known she had left the faith. Tom Cruise is the most famous member of Scientology and follows the beliefs faithfully. Remini was asked not only about the faith by the television host, but also about Cruise and his view of her.

The Daily Mail shares what Remini had to say about the Top Gun star.

“He thinks I’m the devil. Tom and most Scientologists, all Scientologists, are taught to believe that people like me are literally the devil, that we mean them harm.”

When King then asked Remini if she sees Cruise as a dedicated and loyal follower of the faith and its teachings, Remini assured that he is. “[ He’s a] dedicated and loyal Scientologist,” she replied.

“Tom is very well-aware of what is Scientology, truthfully. He is very well-aware that it’s an organization that is defrauding people out of their lives. But in his heart, I believe he believes it.”

The actress and talk show host didn’t end their discussion there. Remini then was asked as to whether she believed Cruise is delusional, to which she said she did, stating “I could say that about myself at the time.”

“I didn’t want to look. I didn’t want to believe that what I’ve been involved in my whole life was a lie, that it was damaging and hurting people,’ she said. ‘Yeah, you can say I was delusional.”

When it comes to Tom Cruise’s opinion of Scientology, he publicly praises the faith that he has been a member of for 30 years now, calling it a “beautiful religion.”

In a rare chat back in October, the 54-year-old told ITV News while at the premiere for Jack Reacher 2: Never Go Back, in London, how he views the organization and what it has done for him in his life.

“It’s something that has helped me incredibly in my life. It’s something, you know, without it, I wouldn’t be where I am,” he continued.

“So it’s a beautiful religion. I’m incredibly proud.”

Earlier this year, Remini shared a story about Tom Cruise having put pressure on her to convince CBS not to run a negative story about Scientology on their network. Fox News relays Leah’s words on the matter.

“I got pressure to call Les Moonves at CBS to try and get a ’60 Minutes’ report squashed,” Remini, a former Scientologist, said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“I got a call from the church and Tom to call Les Moonves and use my influence to squash the story.”

At the time, Leah was starring on King Of Queens on the network. Although she was against the idea, she still asked the chairman of CBS if he would pull the segment. He stated that he would not change a thing about the lineup.

“So I called Les Moonves, even though I was really uncomfortable with it. And he said, ‘Listen — you’re not the only one who has called me about this and I have no right to interject my opinion of what I like or don’t like with the news organization of CBS and I will absolutely not engage this conversation.”
