‘Rogue One’ Star Riz Ahmed Brilliantly Slams Piers Morgan And Trump Supporters

Star Wars star Riz Ahmed is not afraid to speak his mind. Meanwhile, talk show host Piers Morgan has been outspoken about his contempt for the Star Wars franchise.

During his appearance on Good Morning Britain, it didn’t take Ahmed long to slam host Piers Morgan stating there was “no better endorsement” for the movie than his constant criticism, reports The Sun. Morgan was absent during Ahmed’s interview, which allowed him to slam the M.I.A. host. Host Susanna Reid talked about Morgan’s dislike for the movie caused a fight with entertainment reporter Richard Arnold.

“I think there could be no better endorsement than Piers Morgan bashing something,” Ahmed said.

Both hosts were at a lost on what to say. They started giggling as Susanna responded, “Solid burn, solid burn.”

Richard beamed proudly and clapped. Then Riz jokingly said, “Star Wars Rogue One in Cinemas now.”

Susanna talked about the time when Piers was slapped by a Storm Trooper on set because he said the movie “didn’t make any sense” and he “didn’t get it at all.” Richard even took a swipe at his co-host when he bashed the new film.

Riz said that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is an independent film and viewers didn’t have to watch the previous Star Wars films to enjoy it.

“The good thing about this film is you don’t need to have seen the other Star Wars movies. It is kind of standalone and for super fans, it takes place just before the first ever Star Wars, so seeing some of those familiar characters like Darth Vader and the Death Star will feel really cool. And they will enjoy that. It’s its own thing, with new characters.”

He also revealed that there will be “Easter Egg references” to the upcoming plotline in future movies. Ahmed has also made the time to respond to the alt-right’s boycott of the new franchise film, reported NME. It was previously reported that members of the alt-right campaign, who support Donald Trump’s victory, have been bashing the new movie with the hashtag #DumpStarWars on social media.

They claim that it promotes “multiculturalism anti-American agenda in a science fiction Disney movie.” It all started when the movie’s scriptwriter Chris Weitz posted a tweet, which has since been deleted, that read, “Please note that the Empire is a white supremacist (human) organization, opposed by a multi-cultural group led by brave women.”

Ahmed sat down for an exclusive interview with NME about the movie. He also addressed those Trump supporters who said they will not see the film.

“We live in such divisive and divided times,” he said. “Anywhere you look around the world, it seems like people are scared. When people get scared, they start seeing the world in terms of us and them. I think that Star Wars is something that little kids, old me and women, people all around the world can relate to and are invested in.”

“I think we should use this opportunity to bring people together and enjoy a story that means a lot to so many people,” he continued. “This was a film made with two things in mind: to preserve the Star Wars heritage and to do something distinctive with it. Hopefully that’s something that fans will respond to.”

Riz was previously quoted saying, “We have to be vocal. We’re living in scary times,” in an in-depth interview with The Guardian.

Riz revealed in the interview that he could recall the number of times he would appear in a cult movie, much like Star Wars, but people wanted to know what it’s like to be a Muslim than to know more about his acting career. He also recalled the number of times he would get questioned at airports. Riz has a lot to fight for still and that’s why he’s outspoken.
