Kurupt Speaks After Natiana Reed Of Blaque Dies In Accident In Atlanta

Rapper Kurupt was engaged to singer Natiana Reed a few years back, and the Blaque singer and Tha Dogg Pound rapper have a son together, 10-year-old Tren Brown.

But tragedy struck this weekend for Kurupt and Reed when Natiana was struck by a vehicle in Atlanta and killed shortly before midnight Friday.

Natiana Reed’s sudden passing, which eerily echoed that of her mentor Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes a decade earlier, was a shock to the R&B community, and many mourned the loss of the singer on Twitter and elsewhere.

As Reed’s 33rd birthday passed, Kurupt released a statement acknowledging her death and thanking friends and fans for the outpouring of support that followed the tragic event. He said:

“Myself and Tren, Natiana’s son, would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this tragic time… This is a tremendous loss to our family. Natiana was a great person and I wish everyone had the opportunity to meet her and know her as I did.”

Along with Kurupt, members of Blaque also released a statement following Natiana Reed’s death, telling fans and friends:

“We are devastated by the loss of our group member, sister and friend Natiana Reed. Because of the enormous support of Blaque fans and our love for each another, Blaque officially reunited this fall and we were in the process of working on a new album and a reality show. Natiana continuously embodied the pioneering spirit of Blaque and her undeniable creativity touched the hearts of fans everywhere. Natiana was a mother, sister, accomplished songwriter, artist and friend. We ask for your prayers at this time for Natiana’s family. She will forever be missed and her global influence eternally felt. We thank God for the experiences we shared.”
