Man Films Comcast Xfinity Repair Trucks Blocking Snowy Roads: 5 Cars Slide Off, One Truck Hits A Car [Video]

Comcast Xfinity is getting plenty of buzz, but it’s not the kind of buzz that it likely wants. In the following video, which is titled “Comcast Xfinity’s repair trucks may have caused multiple slide offs and collision,” several cars can be seen driving on the icy roads as Comcast Xfinity repair trucks seem to cause a logjam and a collision.

As reported by Mashable, the video caused quite a ruckus on Reddit once the actions of the Comcast Xfinity workers became apparent. The melee happened in Indianapolis, Indiana, on Tuesday evening. As seen in the viral video, at least one truck is parked on the side of a snowy and icy road, with at least two cars also shown having slid off into the ditch. A man named Daniel recorded the Comcast Xfinity truck trouble — with Daniel not wanting to reveal his last name to the publication.

The Comcast Xfinity trucks (another Comcast truck showed up) were parked in an unfortunate location without enough orange cones warning drivers early enough to slow down to avoid sliding off the road, according to Daniel. Daniel can be heard asking the truck driver to do something about his location and cones, especially after cars began sliding off the road into the snowy ditch. However, the warnings to the Comcast Xfinity truck driver seemed to fall on deaf ears, even as the initial truck driver Daniel spoke with told him that the worker needed to use his truck to protect him from other cars as he worked.

That’s the reason the Comcast Xfinity worker wouldn’t move his truck into a driveway. But he didn’t seem very concerned about adding additional cones farther along the hill behind him in order to give drivers more warning of the dangers ahead. However, Daniel realized that there were not enough cones on the road, especially after a different Comcast Xfinity truck approached and a school bus drove by as well. Whereas the school bus did not appear to slide off the road nor have an accident, a pick-up truck came barreling down the road afterward and slammed into another vehicle. That pick-up truck ended up skidding onto a front yard and nearly hitting a tree.

According to the video, the Comcast Xfinity worker had more cones in his truck — but refused to use said cones. Instead, the worker described only needing one cone per 10 miles of road based on the miles per hour limit. Since it was a 40 MPH road, the Comcast Xfinity worker explained that the minimum amount of cones required were only four cones. He explained that folks shouldn’t speed down the road.

“Maybe somebody shouldn’t be flying through here. I gotta go fix stuff.”

That accident did not appear to prompt the Comcast Xfinity workers to move their cones farther down — at least not from the footage that is shown in the viral video. Comcast Xfinity responded to the viral video when Ed Marchetti, SVP of Technical Operations at Comcast, told Mashable that the video showing the Comcast Xfinity brouhaha was very concerning. He noted that Comcast Xfinity workers should always be concerned about the safety of those around them and that Comcast is actively investigating what was seen in the viral video.

“When I watched this video I was very concerned by what I saw. Our employees should always protect people and treat them with respect no matter what the situation. Safety matters most – especially in dangerous weather conditions like this.

We are actively investigating what happened when our technicians were on site to restore services during an outage and we will reach out to those who were impacted by this incident.

Within the next 24-48 hours, my team leaders will meet with our technicians across our company to use this as an example of how important it is to make everyone’s safety a priority in everything we do.

And just as important, there’s no place for disrespect – treating people the right way is the only way to work.”

For his part, Daniel said that he wasn’t trying to create a dramatic and viral video, but that he was concerned about keeping everyone safe as the Comcast Xfinity trucks seemed to wreak havoc on the snowy road. Daniel retrieved his own cones to try and provide additional safety and was concerned about his own wife and protecting her from being hit as she brought out hot chocolate to people on the road.
