Hilary Duff Responds To Instagram Trolls Saying It’s Perverted To Kiss Her Four-Year-Old On The Lips

Hilary Duff told everyone on Instagram that if they have an issue with mothers kissing their kids on the lips, to promptly unfollow her. Duff is baffled that people sexualized a mother giving her four-year-old son a kiss on the lips, and suggests that those people check themselves. But that didn’t stop people from commenting under a photo on Instagram of Hilary Duff and her son at Disneyland.
Celebrities with children are under scrutiny, not only for themselves, but for their parenting. Tori Spelling got called out for dyeing her children’s hair blonde to match the shade she dyes hers, says the Inquisitr. Photos of Spelling’s young children at the hair salon having their hair colored with harsh chemicals shocked many fans who suggested that Spelling check herself.

PageSix shared a photo of Duff and her son Luca at Disneyland saying that it is the happiest place on earth, with Luca wearing mouse ears, kissing his mom on the lips. Hilary thought nothing of sharing the photo with her fans on Instagram, and seemed shocked about the backlash from some fans who found it “disgusting.”

Over 230k people viewed the photo by the end of the afternoon, and many felt compelled to leave a comment, some suggesting that Duff was sexually confusing her son.
“You should not kiss your son like that. There’s other ways to show love but not that one. It’s confusing for him, it’s not healthy.”
Many Hilary Duff fans had her back, but Duff decided to respond herself.
“For anyone commenting that a kiss on the lips with my four-year-old is ‘inappropriate’ go ahead and click a quick unfollow with your warped minds and judgement.”

But the fuse was lit, as Duff fans battled it out on Instagram, some sending messages of support to Duff, some suggesting that it was something dirty, and others suggesting that the people who saw something incestuous must have had a “messed up childhood.”
“I think it’s more so how it appears that seems inappropriate. This kiss appears very deep and that tends to often times be seen more so between two adults, than between a parent and a child. A peck on the lips seems very harmless but it appears to be more so of a lingering kiss and so I guess I can see how others may view this as a bit weird.”
Many suggested that Hilary Duff was kissing Luca the way a woman might kiss a boyfriend, but obviously, the picture was a still, giving the suggestion that the kiss was lengthy, when it was not. Many fans said that anyone who thinks the photo is creepy should take Duff’s advice and move on.
“This is adorable. If you feel this is ‘making out’ clearly you’ve never had a passionate relationship. If you don’t like it follow Hilary’s advice and unfollow her.”
Duff told US Weekly that she doesn’t want to hear from people that it is inappropriate to kiss her son on the lips. Hilary Duff says that she is over mommy-shaming, and she is not going to wait for strangers to tell her how to parent her child, if for example, a photographer snaps a shot of her talking to her son when he is having a tantrum.
“I can’t help it if someone’s taking a picture when I’m taking him to get a haircut — and he hates haircuts and he doesn’t like the photographers and throws a tantrum and then there’s a headline: ‘Can’t Control Her Child!'”
Duff says that there is enough pressure, particularly on working mothers, that people should just focus on their own kids.
