WWE News: ‘Roadblock’ 2016 Spoilers For New Championship Match On Sunday’s Card

There’s some WWE news in terms of Roadblock 2016 spoilers that came about on Tuesday evening. A brand new match has been revealed for the big pay-per-view card this coming Sunday. Fans in attendance at a live event were made aware of the new match based on another match they witnessed live. The new championship match joins several other big matches which have titles on the line at the latest WWE Raw brand pay-per-view. Here are all the latest details on the newest Roadblock: End of the Line matchup. For those fans who want to avoid WWE spoilers, it may be better to wait a day to watch Tribute to the Troops.

The Wrestling Inc website reported on the latest updated match card for Sunday’s event including the brand new championship match added to the card. At the WWE Tribute to the Troops taping, a Fatal Fourway match was held to determine No. 1 contenders for New Day’s tag team titles. The match consisted of Shining Stars, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, and Golden Truth, as well as the team of Sheamus and Cesaro. In the end, the originally uncooperative duo of Cesaro and Sheamus prevailed and ended up becoming new No. 1 contenders. They’ll challenge New Day on Sunday for the title belts in a regular tag team match.

As PWMania reported, New Day broke the all-time record for the length of their WWE tag team championship reign. After surviving two Triple Threat title matches on Monday’s Raw, New Day surpassed the 25-year record reign by legendary tag team champions Demolition. The trio consisting of Xavier Woods, Big E, and Kofi Kingston has now held the tag team titles for 480 days and counting. The historic new title reign has a lot of fans seemingly irritated that the New Day, generally considered a comedy act by many, has been able to pass a record held by a couple of tag team legends. Not only that, but there are those that contend that New Day’s use of three members to compete has spoiled the reign a bit.

With that in mind, it could very well be time for a change to freshen up the tag team division. If one team seems ready to carry the torch and really try to boost the tag team division, it looks like the duo of Cesaro and Sheamus is as good as any. The tandem originally was at odds with each other and competed in a best-of-seven series of matches which never quite got resolved. From there, Raw General Manager Mick Foley decided to stick them together as tag team partners. Eventually, they meshed and began to really get on a roll. In Monday’s Triple Threat title match, they certainly put on a display including Cesaro’s rampage inside and outside the ring.

Now on Sunday, Cesaro and Sheamus have an opportunity to make history by claiming the tag team belts from the longest-reigning champions in WWE history. It seems like a smart booking move at this point, despite the wild popularity of New Day in terms of merchandise and the fun gimmick. It certainly won’t be surprising at all to see Cesaro and Sheamus among new champions at Sunday’s WWE Roadblock: End of the Line pay-per-view. Based on the skills these two have demonstrated in the ring and their charisma together as a team, it makes a lot of sense to put the belts on these two heading into 2017.

That new championship match will join several other bouts on a stacked card. On the pre-show, Big Cass takes on Rusev. For the main card, Seth Rollins takes on Chris Jericho, while Sami Zayn has to last 10 minutes against Braun Strowman in a match. Also featured will be a Triple Threat for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship as Rich Swann defends his title against TJ Perkins and The Brian Kendrick. Sasha Banks will defend the WWE Raw Women’s Championship against Charlotte in a 30-minute Ironman match. The main event will likely feature WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens defending the title against Roman Reigns. The United States Championship, currently held by Reigns, will not be defended as of this report.

WWE fans, do you think that Cesaro and Sheamus should win the tag team titles on Sunday at Roadblock? Will a win help freshen up the division or is New Day still the best thing going for tag teams?
