Atlanta Falcons Win Again, Continue Undefeated Season With 7-0 Record

Matt Ryan threw for three touchdown passes on his teams first three possessions and led the Falcons to a 7-0 start with an impressive 30-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Matt Ryan’s drives included an opening possession in which he pushed the ball 80 yards on 16 plays. Ryan also converted five third downs during his team’s opening set.

After the game, Asante Samuel, a former Eagle, said of his team’s win:

“We’re 7-0 over here baby. If I was over there now, they have to go to work.”

The Atlanta Falcons in its 47-year history has never started a season at 7-0.

Eagles coach Andy Reid said of his team’s play:

“That was an embarrassing performance. I’m stating the obvious. We need to get better. I need to do a better job. This is fixable. We have the talent.”

The game definitely wasn’t embarrassing for Matt Ryan who threw for 22 of 29 with 262 yards.

Former Falcons QB Michael Vick managed not to turn the ball over during the game, but he also failed to convert on several possessions.

When asked if he was worried about losing the starting job to Nick Foles, Michael Vick said:

“Whatever decision coach makes, I support it. I know I’m giving it everything I have when I’m out there.”

The Falcon’s needed a win against Philadelphia to valid its 6-0 start. Many analysts noted before the game that Atlanta earned their record against teams with losing records. The Atlanta Falcons despite a winning record entered the game as a 3-point underdog against the Philadelphia Eagles.
