WWE News: Former WWE Star Ironically Stops Armed Robbery And Takes Down Robber

One half of one of the most popular wrestling tag teams in the past two decades was back in the news this week after doing something rather ironic. Shad Gaspard, who was a member of the WWE tag team Cryme Tyme, took it upon himself to protect what is his and what belongs to someone else. Gaspard not only stopped an armed robber from stealing from him, but he then took the guy out with a wrestling move after a gun was drawn.

At 6-foot-7 and weighing close to 300 pounds, it is pretty dumb for anyone to want to mess with Shad Gaspard. The guy is a dominating force and quite intimidating, but it appears as if a guy with a gun thought that he had enough to even the odds.

According to TMZ Sports, the suspect walked into a Florida convenience store and appeared to be intoxicated. He walked right up to Shad and ordered the former WWE star to “buy me a beer.” Shad told the man that there was “a better way to ask than that.”

Coral Springs Police Department says that is when the suspect took out a firearm.

Almost immediately, Shad pushed the guy against the door of a cooler and grabbed for the gun in his hand. At that point, the gun fell to the ground and Shad picked it up to try and remove the magazine from it. He couldn’t do it and figured that he was simply caught up in the moment and nervous, according to ComicBook.com.

Shad was not going to give up on this fight as he instantly thought, “F**k this. I’m not dying in Florida.”

As Shad fiddled around with the gun, he tried to give it to the cashiers of the store who wanted nothing to do with it. Shad put the suspect in a rear naked chokehold and started pulling him outside the store. That is when JTG and other friend saw what was going on and called the cops.

Gaspard got things under control, had the suspect restrained, and searched him for more weapons as the police were on their way. That is when Shad looked at the gun and realized that it was nothing more than a BB gun, but he had no idea of that fact the entire time and truly thought it was real.

“I thought it was a real gun the entire time and honestly, I just didn’t want anyone to get hurt. I just kept thinking about how I wanted to make sure I got home to my son.”

It shows a lot of courage in the former WWE star to not only look at protecting himself and getting home to his son but also protecting others in the store. When someone has a gun, it doesn’t how big you are or if you used to perform in a WWE ring.

It also doesn’t matter to the cops that it was just a BB gun because he was still taken into custody and arrested for attempted robbery. No-one was harmed during the incident and all went home happy after it was over. Well, except for the suspect.

The last time the world saw Shad Gaspard in WWE, he was actually feuding with JTG, his former Cryme Tyme partner. That was more than six years ago, though, and it just doesn’t seem as if he will ever make it back there. Still, he’s not going to let anyone take what is rightfully his or what belongs to someone else, and that is why he made sure to stop the armed robber in a bit of an ironic twist to his wrestling career.
