‘WWE Monday Night Raw’ Results: The New Day Break Record, Three Matches Added To ‘Roadblock’

As United States Champion Roman Reigns prepares for his chance to take Kevin Owens’ Universal Championship at WWE Roadblock on Sunday, a total of four teams went after The New Day’s Tag Team Championship on Monday Night Raw. Now that Big E, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston have survived two Triple Threat Tag Team Championship Matches in one night, they will wake up on Wednesday morning having passed Demolition as the longest reigning tag team champions in WWE history.

Meanwhile, as Sami Zayn continued to ask for another chance against Braun Strowman, General Manager Mick Foley continued to deny his request. But with only three matches booked for Sunday’s PPV prior to Raw, Foley gave into Zayn’s demands for a rematch against the former member of The Wyatt Family.

WWE Monday Night Raw Results

The following includes the results of all the matches and segments from WWE Raw on December 12, which aired live from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Raw has won the “ratings war” with the blue brand ever since the separate rosters were established, although SmackDown Live has been keeping the competition close. Will the ratings victory streak remain alive as this week’s Monday Night Raw featured two big title matches on the go-home show for WWE Roadblock?

Digital: Raw Pre-Show on YouTube

Booker T and Dasha Fuentes hosted the second edition of the ten-minute Digital Raw Pre-Show. The pre-show aired on YouTube, but did not air on the WWE Network. Booker and Dasha talked about the Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Match as the pre-show began. They were interrupted by The Shining Stars, who were trying to sell bootleg versions of The New Day’s merchandise.

They also aired a clip from earlier in the day in which Bayley found one of her teddy bears from the WWE Shop torn to shreds in the locker room. Alicia Fox told her not to be giving any more gifts to Cedric Alexander. Before the pre-show ended, Booker and Dasha talked briefly about Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns and WWE Roadblock. They also announced that Kevin Owens would be a guest on The Rollins Report, and a special that was going to air called Rusev and Lana: Behind Closed Doors.

The New Day retained the Raw Tag Team Championship

Setting themselves up to tie Demolition’s record on Tuesday, The New Day won their Triple Threat Tag Team Championship Match in the opening contest of Monday Night Raw. Cesaro and Sheamus, as well as Gallows and Anderson, put on a very good match — but not good enough to take the gold from The New Day.

After a commercial break, Xavier Woods accidentally got champagne in Stephanie McMahon’s eyes. She left the celebration very angry. Later, at the suggestion of Kevin Owens, she would force The New Day to defend their titles one more time.

Braun Strowman defeated Curtis Axel

In a relatively short match, Braun Strowman defeated Curtis Axel. As Byron Saxton was interviewing him in the ring after the match, Strowman had some unkind things to say about Sami Zayn.

After the match, General Manager Mick Foley and Sami Zayn were shown backstage. As Foley continued to deny Zayn a rematch against Strowman, both men agreed that Sami might do better at SmackDown LIVE, so Mick said he would give Daniel Bryan a call to work out a trade.

Jack Gallagher interrupted Ariya Daivari vs. Lince Dorado

In the middle of a match highlighting Team Red’s Cruiserweight Division, Jack Gallagher did the “gentlemanly” thing by announcing that he was interrupting the match before doing so. Taking revenge on Ariya Daivari for attacking his knee last week, the match was ruled a No Contest.

Seth Rollins hosted The Rollins Report

WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens refused to come down to the ring for this segment, sitting at the top of the ramp on a stool instead. To prove to Seth Rollins that he and Chris Jericho were fine, he announced that Jeri-KO would be competing against The New Day in a title match later in the show. This announcement brought out Y2J, who eventually agreed with Owens that the match was a good idea.

It wasn’t long before Jericho and Owens decided to go to the ring to attack Rollins. The Architect was unable to fend off both competitors at once, but Roman Reigns came to the ring shortly after to make the save.

The Brian Kendrick defeated TJ Perkins

Gaining momentum as the Monday Night Raw roster prepares for Roadblock: End of the Line, The Brian Kendrick got a clean win over TJ Perkins. Both former Cruiserweight Champions will challenge Rich Swann in a Triple Threat Match at Roadblock.

Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair and Emma(lina) did not show up

Despite having a 30-Minute Iron Man Match for the Raw Women’s Championship at WWE Roadblock on Sunday, Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair weren’t on this week’s Monday Night Raw, save for a video package highlighting their feud so far. They did make it clear that this showdown has a no-rematch clause, meaning this will be the end of the Sasha/Charlotte feud, at least for the foreseeable future.

Also, despite being advertised earlier in the day on WWE’s website, the transformation of Emma into Emmalina was not unveiled, with no explanation given for the postponement.

Bayley defeated Alicia Fox

In a match that was based on Alicia Fox’s jealous reaction to Bayley giving Cedric Alexander one of her teddy bears from the WWE Shop, everyone’s favorite hugger got a clean victory over Foxy.

Big Cass attacked Rusev

In a segment titled Rusev and Lana: Behind Closed Doors, the real-life married couple teased that they would be revealing a very “edgy” video about how they spend time in their bedroom. Instead, it was just a replay of what happened to Enzo Amore after Lana and Rusev lured him to their hotel room on Monday Night Raw last week. Colin Cassady came out to defend his friend’s honor, and things got predictably physical. Later in the show, it was announced that the two men would face each other at Roadblock: End of the Line.

Sami Zayn defeated Jinder Mahal — Mick Foley faked the SmackDown trade

After Sami Zayn made relatively short work of Jinder Mahal, General Manager Mick Foley came to the ring with some documents in hand. He told Sami that he had a deal worked out with Daniel Bryan to send Sami to Team Blue. Eventually, when Zayn became furious that he was being traded for Eva Marie, Foley revealed that it was all a ruse. The documents were blank and no deal had been made. He granted Zayn his match against Strowman at Roadblock, with the condition that he had to last at least ten minutes.

The New Day defeated Jeri-KO and The Shield

Kofi Kingston was given a break for The New Day’s second match of the night, and Xavier Woods eventually scored the deciding pinfall to ensure that his team would go on to break Demolition’s record. Seth Rollins and U.S. Champion Roman Reigns were World Tag Team Champions as part of The Shield, but they just couldn’t quite get the job done. While the friendship between Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho appears to be done for good, Roman Reigns left the Universal Champion laying in the ring as Raw went off the air.

The above WWE Raw results have been corroborated by WWE’s official Monday Night Raw page.
