‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7 Spoilers: New Details on Jon Snow’s Major S7 Battle

Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 7.

Evidence continues to mount that a massive Jon Snow spoiler from the alleged Game of Thrones Season 7 plot leak that was originally published on the subreddit Free Folk and authored by ‘awayforthelads,’ and recompiled by user ‘maureencreates,’ has been confirmed: Jon will go to battle again in Season 7.

A few weeks ago, Watchers on the Wall reported that production in Northern Ireland was heating up for Game of Thrones Season 7. They have since confirmed that filming has commenced in Wolf Hill Quarry, and thanks to a video posted by YouTuber “phantom pilot” and shared by Watchers, you can see the vast set for yourself.

What scenes are Game of Thrones‘ cast and crew filming?

Given that Watchers on the Wall has confirmed “300 wights” will be featured in the scenes being filmed and the duration of the shoot is set for “3 weeks,” a lot can be surmised. First, that it is clearly a very elaborate sequence.

Now, some backstory

It has been confirmed by Watchers on the Wall that Jon Snow will bring a wight before Westeros to prove his concerns about the White Walkers and the looming threat they pose to humanity. Since Jon will succeed in producing said wight, it is rather obvious that he had to go on a mission to get one, beforehand.

Given the wintry theme of the set and the cast members that have been confirmed to be filming in Northern Ireland by Watchers on the Wall, the conclusion one can easily reach is that the scene being filmed is of Jon Snow and company’s battle for the wight. A battle mentioned in the alleged Season 7 plot leak that was originally posted on Reddit by user awayforthelads, and later recompiled by maureencreates.

What the alleged Reddit “leak” says

According to the alleged Season 7 plot leak on Reddit, Jon Snow will lead a crew that includes The Hound, Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer), Thoros of Myr (Paul Kaye), Tormund, Jorah, and Gendry (Joe Dempsie) to capture the wight. The alleged leak also contends that Jon is nearly killed in the battle after he and his men are assailed by the Night King and his army.

There might be a major diversion from the alleged plot leak’s setup

So far, Watchers on the Wall have only been able to confirm that the following actors have been filming in the vicinity. They are Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane), Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont), and Rory McCann (The Hound).

That means the actors who portray Thoros of Myr, Beric Dondarion, and Gendry have not been spotted. All three characters are said to be a part of Jon’s convoy in the alleged plot leak from Reddit. Without the actors being spotted, their characters’ participation in the scenes cannot be confirmed.

Has another spoiler from the alleged Reddit plot leak been confirmed?

Watchers on the Wall has shared a photo from the set of a person they say is Kit Harington, in-character as Jon Snow. However, the person in the picture appears to also resemble actor Joseph Mawle, in-character as Benjen Stark.

Benjen was last seen dropping off his nephew Bran at the Wall in the Season 6 finale. Benjen’s costuming in Season 6 closely resembled that of a Wildling — just like that of the photographed individual. He also wore his hair pulled back, like his other nephew Jon Snow is currently wearing his.

Why it might not be Jon.

So far, leaked set photos from Game of Thrones Season 7, have shown Jon Snow wearing either armor or Northern attire. The wintriest outfit he has been spotted wearing is a long cloak, which can be seen in the leaked set photos of Jon meeting Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) on Winter is Coming.

While it is possible Jon is bundled up more because it is winter and he is north of The Wall, he should be wearing armor over an outfit, he can easily move around in. In “Hardhome,” the Season 5 episode where Jon kills a White Walker warrior, he wears just that.

Dressing as a Wildling would theoretically make fighting the wights more difficult. The costume department would likely take that into consideration. Since this is not Jon’s first time fighting them, he would know how to dress for the occasion. The costume the person pictured is wearing does not necessarily suit a man who knows he is headed into battle.

If it is Benjen, why is that important?

If it is Benjen, this confirms yet another component of the alleged Season 7 plot leak from Reddit. According to the alleged leak, Jon and his companions are attacked by the army of the Night King, in the midst of capturing the wight. Only to be saved by Daenerys, who swoops down on her dragon and carries most of the men to safety. Jon stays behind. Maybe there is not enough room?

Jon is nearly killed before his Uncle Benjen rides in on his horse. Benjen then helps a severely injured Jon onto his horse and sends them away. As Jon looks back, he sees his uncle swathed by the Night King’s army. It is unclear if Benjen is killed by the throng of wights.

So is it Benjen?

The greatest indicator that it is not Joseph Mawle/Benjen in the photo, and is Kit Harington/Jon, is that Watchers on the Wall is “confident” of it being Harington. As many know, they are an incredibly reliable source for Game of Thrones information.

What episode is Jon’s Season 7 battle going to be in?

Winter is Coming has relayed reports from social media that director Alan Taylor has been spotted by Game of Thrones fans in Belfast. Thanks to Watchers on the Wall publishing the list of directors for Game of Thrones Season 7, it is known that Taylor will direct Episode 6, the penultimate episode of the season.

Since Taylor is in Belfast, Winter is Coming and Watchers on the Wall, have both concluded he is there to helm the battle sequence. Therefore, Episode 6 will more than likely be the one to contain the Jon Snow vs. White Walker showdown.
