‘Teen Mom 2’: The Dads Spend A ‘Weekend At Corey’s’ [Video]

MTV is giving fans of the Teen Mom franchise a chance to get to know the dads of the show a little better. In a new sneak peek for the upcoming Teen Mom 2 special Weekend At Corey’s, the dads of the series visit with Leah Messer’s ex-husband Corey Simms at his home in West Virginia and they spend some quality guy time together.

The Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 series are centered around the moms, and the dads of the series usually serve as secondary storylines. But in the Weekend At Corey’s special, the dads are the stars this time, MTV reported. In a clip from the upcoming special, Gary Shirley (who shares eight-year-old daughter Leah with his ex-fiance and Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood) and Nathan Griffith (who shares two-year-old son Kaiser with his ex-fiance, Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans) roll up to Corey’s home in a black pick up truck. Corey, who shares six-year-old twin daughters Ali and Aleeah with Teen Mom 2 star Leah, waits for his pals in his back yard, sitting on a folding chair with a can of beer in his hand.

“Nice little neighborhood,” Nathan commented, and the guys greeted Corey with handshakes.

Jo Rivera, who shares six-year-old son Isaac with his ex-girfriend and Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry, is also joining the rest of the Teen Mom dads for the Weekend At Corey’s special. In the clip, Gary explained that they were missing the other dads of the franchise because they couldn’t make the trip out. Notably absent from the special is Adam Lind (who shares seven-year-old daughter Aubree with his ex-girlfriend, Teen Mom 2 star Chelsea Houska), Ryan Edwards (who shares eight-year-old son Bentley with his ex-fiance and Teen Mom OG Maci Bookout) and Tyler Baltierra who shares one-year-old daughter Novalee with his wife, Teen Mom OG star Catelynn. Tyler and Catelynn also share seven-year-old daughter Carly together, but she was placed for adoption during the couple’s episode of 16 and Pregnant.

Once the guys greeted each other, Corey explained how the idea for the dads special came about.

“I called Morgan [Freeman, Teen Mom executive producer], I was like ‘Yeah we need to like do something more outdoorsy, I’m tired of doing ‘Teen Mom.’ Like guy stuff,'” Corey told his co-stars. “He’s like ‘Okay,’ and then he called and said, ‘Hey, got approved for a special, we’re gonna have some guys come in.’ That way, we can like do our deal, it’s more of our, you know, we’re in control of it.”

“I think the guys bring the drama to the show,” Nathan said, laughing.

“But we’re here, now we can have a good f**king time,” Jo said. “Let’s have some drinks, cook some food. That sounds like a plan.”

The guys chatted about how nice it is to have the chance to spend a few days together without the kids, and Jo started talking about wanting to go fishing.

“You know what we should take him to do?” Nathan said. “Go snipe hunting. They’re like the hardest thing to catch but they’re so cool.”

“Snipe hunting? What the f**k is snipe?” Jo asked.

Corey explained that snipe is a small bird, and Gary said that they’re mostly found in West Virginia. But Jo didn’t realize that snipe hunting is a practical joke that is usually played on inexperienced hunters in order to make them get lost in the woods, according to local newspaper Springfield News-Leader.

Nathan continued to play the prank on Jo and he even asked Corey if he had a snipe caller. Gary joined in on the joke and asked Corey to make the bird call with his hands.

“I don’t know, I’m too drinking,” Corey said, laughing.

Teen Mom producer J.C. was also oblivious to the prank and he jumped into the conversation, asking the fellas if he could join in on the hunting trip too. But that’s when Gary walked up to the nearest camera and lowered his voice.

“There’s no such thing as a snipe,” he revealed, then he turned around and said the birds are easy to find everywhere in West Virginia.

But according to the Springfield News-Leader, the bird does exist but it’s a shorebird that is usually found in wetland or marshes in Missouri.

“This is gonna be awesome,” Nathan said, high-fiving Corey while Gary held up one finger to his lips so that the camera person wouldn’t reveal the secret.
