Site documents gaming’s most awkward couples

I don’t normally post about lists made by other people, because:

a) They’re everywhere.
b) They’re boring.

That said, I thoroughly enjoyed Crispy Gamer’s rundown of gaming’s most uncomfortable duos – probably because I agree with so many of them, and I’m a big narcissist who thinks his opinion is hugely important.

Included in the list are Professor Layton and his apprentice Luke (with their questionable, faintly pederastic bond), the odd couple that is the Big Daddy and Little Sister from BioShock, and – OH GOD YES – Kurt Cobain and Guitar Hero 5. Now THAT’s an awkward pairing.

My favorite entry, however, is for Gears of War heroes Marcus and Dom:

“Marcus and Dom have a special man-bond because they have endured things “down in the Hollow” — Roadie Runs, laying down suppressing fire for one another, enjoying tender moments during cut-scenes between levels — that no vacation at even the mighty Hedonism Resort with their bikini-clad lady friends could ever top. I picture Dom late in life, alone in his little trailer, holding Marcus’ old bandana to his face, inhaling his scent, and remembering their down-in-the-Hollow times together. Those sure were some times…”
