‘Once Upon A Time’ Season 6 Episode 11 Return Date, Spoilers: What Will Happen In ‘Tougher Than The Rest?’ [Videos]

Once Upon a Time Season 6 is opening a new chapter when it returns in March. Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), the Savior, will finally have to face her mortality, as her killer made an appearance in the midseason finale of Once Upon a Time Season 6.

The final scene of Once Upon a Time Season 6, Episode 9 titled “Wish You Were Here,” saw the return of Rumple (Robert Carlyle) and Belle’s (Emilie de Raven) son from a place of immense dark power — where the time runs differently. Their grownup son, Gideon (Giles Matthey), has become the sword-wielding hooded figure from Emma’s vision — the Savior’s slayer.

In the promo of Once Upon a Time Season 6, Episode 11, David (Josh Dallas) is seen asking Belle if Gideon is there to kill Emma. Belle says “yes” without beating around the bush. The clip also provides a glimpse of Gideon and Emma’s sword fight. The former can be seen initiating the fight, saying that he has been waiting for her.

The arrival of Emma’s killer, who happens to be Belle’s son, is set to trigger a fresh wave of deadly troubles in Storybrooke. In addition to causing tension between Emma and Belle, Gideon is going to divide the family as well. Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, Once Upon a Time showrunners, told TV Guide that Belle’s son is going to cause tension between all the characters.

“It’s going to cause tension between all of them. What we sometimes forget is that Gold is actually Henry’s grandpa, and they’re all weirdly tied together. I think that you have Rumple and Belle looking out for their child, and you’re going to have the Charmings looking out for Emma. I would say the family is going to be divided.”

Episode 11, titled “Tougher Than the Rest,” is also going to reveal important details about Gideon, including “what happened to him” and “what has he become.” Kitsis said that all the answers will be provided in the upcoming episode. And “why does he want to kill Emma” is the question that will introduce a lot of storytelling in the second half of Once Upon a Time Season 6, Horowitz said to Entertainment Weekly (EW).

“… we hope the audience is asking, is ‘Why would he want to kill the Savior?’ And that becomes a launching off point for a lot of the storytelling in the second half.”

The midseason finale also saw Emma transported to a curse-free alternate reality because of the Evil Queen (Lana Parilla), and Regina (also Parrilla) followed her soon there, to bring her back to Storybrooke. Regina had to transform herself into the Evil Queen to snap Emma — who had become a curse-free, singing Princess — out of her stupor. And she later killed that world’s Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Charming (also Josh Dallas), which resulted in Emma getting back her senses.

However, the two were unable to get back to Storybrooke in Episode 9. Regina got transfixed seeing Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) resurrected and throwing arrows at them to stop them from escaping the wish-realm, with the intention to rob them.

Speaking of what is in store for Emma and Regina, who continue to be stuck in the alternate reality, in Episode 11, Kitsis told EW that they are going to be on the run with the newly Knighted Henry (Jared Gilmore) of that fake Enchanted Forest hunting them on a horse.

“They are going to be on the run because everyone thinks that the Evil Queen has killed Snow and Charming and kidnapped Emma…”

And Robin Hood is not going anywhere yet, but the showrunners warned that he is not the same Robin Hood that everyone knows, the one who was Regina’s soulmate. Kitsis said that this new Robin Hood, however, will have a deep impact on Regina. Episode 11 of Once Upon a Time Season 6 will explore the wounds that Regina has in regards to Robin.

“In the spring premiere, you’ll see that that [the version of Robin Hood] becomes a huge part of her [Regina] story, and in effect, Emma and everyone else as well.”

There is a possibility that Regina will bring Robin Hood back to Storybrooke, according to EW’s spoiler room scoop. Kitisis teased that Regina would most likely be thinking of bringing back Robin Hood, adding that this move would have its share of consequences.
