Kylie Jenner is making waves with a previously unreleased nude photo that shows the reality star baring her backside, a shot that could be a preview for a racy 2017 calendar that is yet to be released.
The picture came from a photo shoot that took place about three weeks ago, showing Kylie wearing a burgundy bralet, the Mirror noted. That shoot was already famous for another somewhat racy photo showing Kylie Jenner posing in the same outfit. Her assistant, Victoria Villarroel Gamero, posted that photo online late last month, garnering more than 2 million likes on Instagram.
That photo has actually become a marketing tool for the young reality television star, who is now selling a T-shirt with a print of it.
The nude photo of Kylie Jenner that showed up on the internet this week appeared to come from the same photo shoot, the Mirror reported, adding that the photo showing up online had actually been censored to hide the nudity.
“The reality star is pictured in a bra and looking seductively at the camera. Kylie glances over her shoulder while pulling town a pair of jeans, revealing her whole actual bum.
“To protect her her modesty, someone’s strategically placed a cupcake emoji covering up her actual bum crack.”
The Mirror noted that the picture will likely be part of Kylie Jenner’s 2017 calendar, which she has already previewed on social media. The shots were taken by controversial photographer Terry Richardson, the report noted.
And the timing of the nude photo release could have something to do with Kylie Jenner’s latest business venture. Perhaps the most entrepreneurial of the Kardashian/Jenner clan, Kylie just opened her first brick-and-mortar cosmetics store in the Topanga Westfield Mall near her home in Calabasas, California.
The grand opening drew thousands of fans on Friday, W magazine noted, and was a big hit with her fans across the country as well. Kylie posted both pictures and video to Instagram of the store’s opening, and fans shared plenty of pictures as well.
“Some camped out the night before; others endured amusement park-length lines,” W magazine noted. “Most walked away with a Wall of Lip Kits selfie — that is, a picture in front of an ombre wall which houses all 24 shades of Jenner’s staple that would please even the most discerning aesthete who color coordinates their bookshelves.”
Kylie’s Lip Kit has been wildly successful, selling out in minutes whenever a new line is introduced. As Forbes noted, Kylie has been able to turn the brand into the most sought-after cosmetics item among her core following of teenage fans.
“There are lots of substitutes if you want your lips to look a certain color, the problem is people aren’t buying functionality, they are buying desirability,” Z. John Zhang, a professor of marketing at the Wharton School, told the business magazine. “You can keep up with the Kardashians and that kind of feeling is worth more than what goes into the lipstick.”
And Kylie Jenner is more than just a figurehead for the cosmetics line, The Hollywood Reporter noted. The report claimed that Kylie was actually the one who came up for the ideas of the store’s interior design.
This is not the first time that a nude (or semi-nude) photo of Kylie Jenner has been timed to go along with a new business venture. Just a few weeks ago, another racy photo came out just before Kylie was expected to launch a new lingerie line. As Cosmopolitan speculated, the picture was likely meant to drum up some attention for this line of intimate wear.
The use of social media and the occasional nude photo to promote her own personal brand has more than paid off for Kylie Jenner. As The Hollywood Reporter noted, she earned $18 million in 2016 — more than anyone in the family, outside of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
