Maisie Williams Nude Photo Leak: Rep Confirms ‘Game Of Thrones’ Star Is Victim Of Facebook Hacker

Maisie Williams is the victim of a hacker who leaked nude photos from her private Facebook page to the internet, a representative for the Game of Thrones star confirmed this week.

The 19-year-old British actress, famous for her role as Arya Stark on the HBO fantasy/drama, was seen topless in a series of photos that hit the internet over the weekend. The pictures made the rounds on social media, with some people posting the photos and noting that they were taken from Maisie’s private Facebook page.

A representative for Williams confirmed this week that the story is correct.

“The images online were shared from Maisie’s personal social media account,” the rep told Page Six. “The images are not explicit in nature, but pictures of Maisie and close friends at a spa at a recent visit in Japan.”

As the representative noted, the nude pictures of Maisie Williams don’t actually expose the actress at all and would all conform with the Facebook standards forbidding nudity in shared photos. But they still managed to make quite a splash, with countless shares on social media and some of the highest-voted posts on Reddit.

But the leaked photos of Maisie Williams also generated controversy. Some news outlets refused to re-publish the photos, while others compared them to a series of nude photos leaked in 2014 that hit dozens of celebrities, including Kate Upton and Jennifer Lawrence.

As E! News noted, Lawrence became a particularly outspoken advocate for the men and women hurt by the leak, saying it was a “sexual violation.”

Scarlett Johansson, another victim of leaked photos, said that celebrities are entitled to privacy just like anyone else.

“Just because you’re in the spotlight or just because you’re an actor or make films doesn’t mean you’re not entitled to your own personal privacy,” she told CNN in 2011 (via E! News). “No matter what the context, when that is sieged in some way it feels unjust, it feels wrong.”

The leaked pictures of Maisie Williams appear to come from a trip the actress recently made to promote advocacy for dolphin and whale safety. Williams traveled to Japan last week to call for an end to the capture and killing of the marine mammals, a cause that is also close to a number of other celebrities, including Sting and Daryl Hannah.

“It was something that just struck a chord in my heart,” Williams said (via Fox News). “And I’m a firm believer that, if there is something that you really want to stand up and fight for, then you should. And with everyone doing their own little bit for what they believe in, hopefully together we can make the world a better place.”

This isn’t the only leaked photo of Maisie Williams gaining attention online. As the Sun noted, the leaked nude photos hit the internet around the same time as a new teaser from the upcoming season of Game of Thrones. The picture of Williams’s character is already kicking up speculation about potential spoilers for the next season.

“While Arya is riding a horse, she is seen looking straight ahead with a look of shock on her face – leading many fans to guess she could have finally been reunited with her sister Sansa.

“Meanwhile, Sansa features in a close-up photo on thick fur, looking terrified and ghostly white as she stares back at something unknown.”

While past cases of leaked nude photos have led to police investigations and even charges against the people responsible for sharing these stolen photos, it’s not clear if the recent nude photos of Maisie Williams have led to any kind of investigation.
