Christina Aguilera has had a wildly successful career in the music and now is in demand on television as one of the stars of The Voice. What she really wants to do, however, is play the role of a crackhead in a movie.
Strange as it sounds, the former Mickey Mouse Clube star Aguilera told E! that she not only wants to do more acting, but specifically she’d like to play someone suffering from substance abuse.
“I want it to be honest and genuine in expanding my wings and doing something really, really different,” Aguilera said. “A crackhead on the street or a drug addict. Or something crazy and meaty and juicy. Something that really took me out of myself.”
The Huffington Post reports that Aguilera starred in the 2010 film Burlesque as small-town girl who quits her job at a bar, ventures to Los Angeles and pursues a career on the stage, but as it relates to her music, she hasn’t been afraid to play a darker role. In her recent music video for “Your Body,” Aguilera plays a serial killer that seduces and then kills men.
E! reports that Aguilera might not have to stretch to far tap into the dark energy required for such a role.
“It’s hard being such a powerful woman in the business,” the former Mickey Mouse Club star said. “I learned early on you can’t always be warm and fuzzy because you’ll be bulldozed right over.”
Aguilera made the comments at the Billboard and Hollywood Reporter2012 Film & TV Music conference on Thursday.
