Dawsey Fans Elated With ‘Chicago Fire’ 100th-Episode Moment

The Chicago Fire 100th episode has some beautiful and intense moments. The use of the 100-year celebration at Molly’s was funny and touching, but it was Dawsey fans who were elated with the episode. After five seasons, one event that Dawsey fans had been waiting for finally took place.

That’s right; Dawsey finally legally tied the knot. In true Dawsey fashion, it wasn’t a major moment, but it did involve all those who are close to the couple. After Matt Casey had mentioned to his judge friend that he and Gabi Dawson couldn’t get married yet, even if it could secure the paperwork for Louie’s adoption, the two decided it was time to get hitched.

It has been a lot of back and forth on the idea. During the Chicago Fire summer break, the showrunners said that the wedding wasn’t going to happen. They shared that while Dawsey fans would be happy to see the two back together, they weren’t going to tie the knot because there was too much going on. Either they were lying or they listened to fans and agreed to the change of heart.

As Herrmann, Otis, Stella, and the rest of Firehouse 51 celebrated the 100 years that Molly’s had been a bar — and the 100th episode of Chicago Fire — Matt and Gabi left with Louie to get married. It took just a couple of looks for them to silent agree to it, making it very clear that they are meant for each other.

They would have been all alone had Brett and Antonio — who really are an adorable couple — watched them leave. As the judge asked about their witnesses, Firehouse 51 rounded up inside the courtroom to be there to see the two finally get hitched. As Brett said, like Gabi could get married without her brother being there.

While most fans were elated with the turn of events, others were slightly disappointed. It was just one moment at the very end of the episode. On top of that, Gabi had already handed in the paperwork for Louie’s adoption as a single parent. Will she now be able to go back to social services to redo the paperwork as a co-parent with Matt?

What also doesn’t help Dawsey is that Louie’s father made an appearance during the episode. He made it clear at the very end that he was there to get his son back. Right now, Louie is just being fostered by Gabi. He may have moved onto calling Matt “Dad,” but there is nothing official yet.

This was possibly quite a questionable and irresponsible storyline. While Matt shows how much he loves Louie, this isn’t a permanent home yet for the little boy. There is also no guarantee that this will remain a permanent home. What will happen if Louie is given back to his biological father? How confused will that poor boy be? He is just a toddler, so something like this can be very confusing.

Fans do now have a burning question for Chicago Fire about Dawsey. Is the cute Twitter nickname null and void? Some fans have taken to tweeting with the hashtag #NoLongerADawson, as the Chicago Fire official page hinted that Matt and Casey were now Mr. and Mrs. Casey. Is Gabi taking her husband’s last name, or will she keep her own?

The marriage was already a major step for Gabi, especially considering the week before. Gabi and Antonio found out their parents were getting a divorce. Monica Raymund, who plays Gabi, told E! Online that it is a traumatic experience. She went through Gabi’s exact situation and it changed everything she thought and knew about the world and relationships.

Overall, the Chicago Fire 100th episode was an explosive and successful event. The use of the 100-year celebration for the bar and some good news for Herrmann was certainly a magic touch, but the best part was Dawsey finally getting hitched. It has been a long time coming for Dawsey fans on Chicago Fire.

What did you think of the episode? That’s it for Chicago Fire in 2016. The show will return with a special crossover with Chicago P.D. on January 3, 2017, at 9 p.m.
