Kandi Burruss Responds To Criticism She Laughed About Phaedra Parks’ Bomb Threat

Was Kandi Burruss actually happy that someone tried to physically harm her former friend and Real Housewives of Atlanta co-star Phaedra Parks? On the latest episode, which aired on Sunday night, Kandi was shown telling her husband, Todd Tucker, and Kenya Moore that a man just showed up to Phaedra’s office threatening to blow up a bomb he had with him. As Kandi told Kenya and Todd about the news she just heard over the phone, she seemed to be grinning and smiling. At some points, it even seemed as if she was trying not to laugh. Todd also had an odd reaction to the news, looking as if he was smiling. In contrast, Kenya seemed genuinely alarmed and concerned for Phaedra’s safety.

Kandi received a lot of criticism on social media from viewers accusing her of actually taking joy in Phaedra’s bomb scare. People accused her of wanting Phaedra to get hurt.

Yet, according to Kandi, she wasn’t happy at all about what happened. She retweeted a viewer’s tweet that stated that Kandi just has funny facial expressions and that she wasn’t happy someone was trying to blow Phaedra’s office up. The viewer added that those who believe otherwise are stupid.

Kandi thanked the viewer for her tweet and added that she would never be happy about someone trying to hurt Phaedra.

Yet, there are many others who think otherwise. Prior to the episode airing, Phaedra posted a clip of the moment when she, on the way to visit ex-husband Apollo Nida in prison, learned from her mother via a phone call that a man showed up to her legal office and issued a bomb threat. Phaedra confessed that at that moment, all she could think of were her kids.

Many people left comments that criticized Kandi’s reaction to the news. One person wondered why Kandi had a big smile on her face when she was telling others about what happened and pointedly asked how Kandi would’ve felt if it was her life and her children’s’ lives in danger.

“lutumba19: What got to me is why Kandi had a big smile on her face when she was telling everyone about what had happened at your office..you have 2 young boys to look after what if it was her life and her childs at risk.Thank god you wasn’t there.”

Another person pointed out that Kandi should have called Phaedra immediately to see if she was alright. The viewer also found it wrong that Kenya didn’t call either.

“princesswess1: People has lost it in times like these.(end times). While Kandi and her entourage laughing she shoud’ve called you to see were you alright. With friends like Kandi, Kenya, and kandi’s gang who needs enemies.”

Yet another person said that Kandi should have immediately called Phaedra to check on her instead of smiling as she told the other the news as if it was some juicy gossip. The person pointed out that despite the fact Phaedra and Kandi aren’t friends anymore, Kandi’s reaction truly shows how heartless she is.

“renee2358: @brownmuffinlopez I thought the exact same thing when I saw it. The first thing @kandiburruss should have done was called and check on Phadra. Instead, she was all but smiling while telling what happened like a piece of juicy gossip. They may not be friends anymore but her reaction truly shows what type of cold hearted person her and Todd are. Phadra is better without them. Shame on Kandi!!!”

On the latest The Real Housewives of Atlanta episode, Phaedra Parks was shown in the car on the way to visit Apollo Nida in prison in New Jersey after attending the Democratic National Convention when she got a call from an employee. Phaedra’s employee told her that she just got to the office and learned that a man issued a bomb threat toward her. Phaedra then called her mom, who stayed behind in Atlanta to take care of her and Apollo’s two young sons. Phaedra told her mom to keep the house’s alarm on. Phaedra worried that the person would be crazy enough to try to go after her children.

“If anybody’s that crazy to try to bring a bomb, you know what I’m saying?”

Phaedra’s mom told her to calm down and reassured her that she has the children and that they’ll be alright. Phaedra’s mom further told Phaedra to concentrate on what she has to do and to not worry about what’s going on back home.

Meanwhile, Kenya Moore, Kandi Burruss, Kandi’s husband, and a few other couples were at an ATV outing that Kenya had planned as a surprise birthday celebration for her boyfriend, Matt Jordan. While Matt ended up not showing, Kenya still went ahead with the trip. During the trip, Kandi was shown getting a phone call from her assistant/friend Carmon Cambrice, telling her about what was happening with Phaedra. Kandi then told the others the news.

“Carmon just called and said that this dude just came to Phaedra’s office with a grenade and said he was going to blow the f**king building up. A real grenade! He said he was going to kill himself and everybody in there. No…that’s serious! I’m serious, Carmon said it was on the news…said he was gonna kill anybody that tried to stop him and himself.”

“Oh that’s terrible,” Kenya immediately said.

“Thank the lord she’s down at the DNC (Democratic National Convention),” Kandi added.

In her confessional interview, Kenya expressed concern for Phaedra and her children.

“I just can’t imagine if something were to happen to Phaedra. I mean she’s got those two beautiful boys.”

In her blog post recapping the latest episode, Kenya Moore, who is now friendly with Phaedra after many seasons of feuding, said that she was immediately concerned for Phaedra’s children when she heard about the bomb threat.

“I was immediately concerned for her children. There are so many crazies out there that anytime you hear of these occurrences, you have to take them seriously.”

Phaedra Parks and Kandi Burruss used to be very close friends, but the friendship began to unravel after Phaedra, in a previous season, publicly admitted that she didn’t think Kandi was there for her enough when her marriage to Apollo Nida began falling apart and he was sentenced to prison. The friendship then really ended last season after Kandi publicly questioned whether Phaedra really did tip off federal authorities that some of Apollo’s possessions were in her and Todd Tucker’s garage.

As the Inquisitr reported, Phaedra denied that she sent the feds to Kandi and Todd’s house to take Apollo’s items as restitution for his crimes and publicly blasted Kandi for fueling such speculation. So far on this season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Phaedra and Kandi have only been shown together in group settings.
