Courtney Love Developing A Kurt Cobain Musical

Looks like the well is drying up for Courtney Love if her new project is evidence enough. The leading lady of rock band Hole, and widower of Kurt Cobain is starting to develop a musical on Cobain. Cobain, who was the front man for grunge band Nirvana, allegedly committed suicide in 1994 and is the father of Love’s estranged child Frances Bean Cobain.

The news of the Kurt Cobain centric musical comes from Sam Lufti, the former troubled manager of Britney Spears, who is said to be co-managing Courtney Love. Lufti is also said to be giving a helping hand in the Cobain project about Love’s late husband. In addition Lufti is also suing Spears and her parents for breach of contract.

As far as the Kurt Cobain musical, Lufti told Music News that he and Courtney, “are currently working on a possible motion picture or Broadway musical based on the Nirvana catalogue, based on her life and Kurt Cobain’s.” It it believed that the project is in the very early stages.

Cobain and Love’s relationship was often tumultuous and riddled in scandal. In the coming months before giving birth to daughter Frances Bean Cobain, a shocking editorial in Vanity Fair was released, revealing Courtney admitting to using heroin before and after she knew she was pregnant. At the time the news caused quite a stir, and eventually Frances Bean was temporarily removed from the Cobain’s home when she was two weeks old.

When Cobain was found dead on April 1, 1994, in his Seattle home it was believed that he had committed suicide. However, some fans of the late rock legend are convinced that Courtney Love fabricated the suicide and had some involvement in Kurt’s death. As of August 2010, Fix.com released documents that revealed Cobain’s kin, Frances Bean inherited 37 percent of her father’s estate.

Interestingly enough, Courtney Love has no legal rights or say over the use of Kurt’s name or image, so it will be interesting to see how this musical or motion picture pans out.
