Sarah Jessica Parker Is Opening Her First SJP Shoe Boutique

According to the New York Post, Sarah Jessica Parker is opening her very first store next week at the MGM National Harbor casino located in Oxon Hill, Maryland.

“When curating our retail collection, we first and foremost wanted to align ourselves with a luxury brand that represents style, elegance and, most of all, fun,” the general manager of MCM National Harbor Resort, Bill Boasberg, told the Eastern Daily News.

SJP announced the store opening via Instagram on Tuesday.

“Opening a standalone store has long been a dream we have been working towards and we feel truly privileged to be doing so with the expertise, guidance and support of our brilliant partners at MGM Resorts,” Parker said in a press release. “It’s been very exciting to have been involved in all steps of the process, from on-site construction visits to the actual layout and design of our boutique. I’m honored to be included in this massive undertaking and I’m very much looking forward to celebrating in December. Because perhaps then I will believe it’s real.”

Set to open on Dec. 8, the SJP Collection store will carry the brand’s line of shoes – which previously were only available at Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s – in addition to her recently-launched line of little black dresses and jewelry.

Parker launched her collection in February, 2014, with the help of Manolo Blahnik CEO George Malkemus.

“In a silly way, I think it’s what people have expected most of me because of Carrie Bradshaw,” Parker told Vogue. “It’s sort of soup to nuts; you put on a shoe and you put on a coat and you wear a bag and, on the outside, when you’re walking down the street, they really can tell the same story about yourself.”

To bridge the gap between price and aesthetics, Parker looked to the greats – Charles Jourdan and Maud Frizon.

“We’re putting new colors together that people don’t typically do, just beautiful combinations that you wish existed in your closet,” Parker said. “And in terms of bags, thinking about that period of the seventies into the eighties, what those women were carrying, taking away the bells and the whistles and hardware and really making it about the bag.”

In October, Parker embraced her inner Carrie Bradshaw with a new line of little black dresses – she announced the launch on Instagram.

“Well folks, I’ve teased you long enough,” she wrote. “It’s time for the big reveal. Introducing: the SJP LBD. A new collection of Little Black Dresses designed by me, all made proudly in the USA. Our first silhouette (a surprise!) will launch this October exclusively at @bloomingdales, with more designs to follow soon thereafter. Including this one, which I’ve been practically living in. Follow us on @sjpcollection so you don’t miss a beat. The wheels (and doors) never stop spinning…”

In addition to her shoes, handbags, and dresses, Sarah Jessica Parker also released a new fragrance called SPJ Stash in August. According to Vogue, the fragrance took 10 years to perfect.

“I wear fragrance all day long,” Parker told Vogue. “It’s probably the area in which I’m most egregious in my total decadence. I don’t limit myself.”

Stash was the third scent in SJP’s fragrance lineup; in 2005, the actress released her first fragrance, Lovely. Then came SJP NYC.

“This fragrance is about taking risks and expressing a more knowing, confident and sophisticated version of yourself,” Parker said. “I feel this new fragrance is a real rule breaker. It is unapologetically sexy. It’s addictive. And it is for everyone.”

The boutique will be located at MGM National Harbor (7100 Oxon Hill Rd, Oxon Hill, Maryland), and it will be open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day.
