Kanye West’s Altered Meds Led To Long Hospital Stay

The public meltdown that landed Kanye West in a California hospital stemmed from the medication he takes for “longstanding psychological issues” being somehow altered.

TMZ reports that the 36-year-old “Famous” rapper had been taking the same meds for years, but recently “deviated from the prescribed dosage” as he dealt with the emotional torment of wife Kim Kardashian being robbed of millions at gunpoint while in Paris in October.

West was only recently released from the UCLA Medical Center after being hospitalized for eight days for what’s been described as sleep deprivation and mental exhaustion.

In the days leading up to his hospitalization, West constantly turned heads while on stage for his Saint Pablo Tour with some of his strange behavior, which included him hinting that Beyoncé cheated to win the MTV Video Music Award she recently claimed, and that Jay-Z once sent contract killers out to track him down.

He also stunned fans with his admission that if he had voted in the hotly-contested, just-concluded presidential election, he would have voted for republican winner Donald Trump. West has long been a legend in hip-hop circles for once declaring on public TV during the height of the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina that “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.”

Prior to the on-tour episodes, both West and Kardashian had taken on a lower public persona, with her rarely being seen and only releasing a few select photos of herself through her official app.

West is now expected to continue receiving treatment and perhaps some counseling on an outpatient basis.

“Kanye came home for several reasons,” said a source, adding that being away from his young children, Saint and North, had started to weigh heavily on him. “Kanye is feeling better but is seeking outpatient support and help.”

Meanwhile, the well wishes have started to pour in from all fronts for the “Jesus Walks” rapper.

Grammy-winning performer Teyana Taylor, who considers West a mentor and once won a Soul Train best dance performance award with him for the hit “Fade,” took things a step further and encouraged him not to rush back into the spotlight too soon for his own sake.

“Take however much time you need, you know,” she said while recently attending the VH1 Divas Holiday: Unsilent Night special. “Time heals all.”

But in the same breath, Taylor let it be known that for West, that might be a lot easier said than done.

“He’s a workaholic,” she added. “He worked his a** off. And if he needs to get his mind right, then I think everybody should respect that and let him do that.”

West’s hospitalization forced him to cancel the last 21 dates on his tour and remove himself from the public eye, but Taylor insisted she’s still been able to make contact with him.

“I sure have,” she said. “That’s what family is supposed to do. He definitely knows that his friends and his family’s in his corner for sure.”

Reports are that Beyoncé has also been encouraging Jay-Z to make things right with West and seek to repair their fractured relationship.

“Beyoncé is urging Jay to let bygones be bygones, and Jay is coming around to the idea and fast as he sees Kanye is in trouble,” said a source. “No matter what has happened between them, Kanye has always been Jay’s little bro and Jay has always called him his ‘familia.'”

Word is the high-powered couple plans to quietly reach to West and let him know they still care for and will be there for him any way they can be.
