‘The Young And The Restless’ Spoilers: Blind Item Teases Michael Muhney Wants The Adam Newman Role — Will He Get It? [Opinion]

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease tense moments are ahead on the CBS soap opera. Serial Scoop dished a few blind items, and the Y&R fans can’t help but wonder if one of them could be talking about Michael Muhney (Ex-Adam Newman).

Michael Goldberg wrote on Serial Scoop’s website, “This performer desperately wants back on his/her old show. Although it seems possible now based on recent storylines, it’s not going to happen for him/her. People have long memories.”

At first glance, it seems like good news. It appears to the point that Muhney may be able to finally return to the Young and the Restless. Then, the article states that it won’t happen because people have long memories, and aren’t “fond” of the way Muhney behaved during his stint on the soap opera.

Adam Is Dead

A few months ago, Justin Hartley decided to leave the role of Adam Newman which forced the Young and the Restless to kill off the character. They didn’t want to kill him off, but with no character to play Adam, they had no choice. For now, we know that Adam is alive somewhere, but is “missing.”

Sally Sussman, the new head writer of the soap opera, stated that she saw no need for Adam Newman, and didn’t immediately plan to recast the role. She doesn’t want to change Christian’s paternity and wants to leave it as Nick (Joshua Morrow) believing that he is his biological father. In fact, this is important to mention because the Young and the Restless fans are not happy with this little tidbit.

Michael Muhney Burned His Bridges

For a long time, Michael Muhney was a fan favorite. He portrayed Adam perfectly — determined, smart, handsome, and hated by his family. What many fans didn’t know at the time was that the actor struggled to get along with his co-workers. He allegedly had a power struggle with the Young and the Restless patriarch, Eric Braeden (Victor) and was at odds with much of the cast.

TMZ reported that Hunter King (Summer Newman) claimed that the actor groped her on “multiple occasions. Muhney swears he is innocent, and it a sore spot for many the Young and the Restless fans. He has a dedicated fan-base that swears he was pushed out of the role unfairly, and hope to see him return eventually. It looks like, according to the new blind item his chances of returning are pretty slim.

Casting Call Sounds Like Adam?

She Knows Soaps reported that The Young and the Restless issued a casting call for a contract male role named “Marcus.” According to the casting call, they are looking for a male, age 32, and is described as a dashing and handsome journalist.

Adam wouldn’t be a journalist (most likely), but the age and dashing handsome seems to fit. If it is Adam, the casting call would suggest that the Young and the Restless is beginning to start the casting process. They didn’t mention when “Marcus” will start filming, only that it was a contract role.

It looks like the chances of Muhney returning to the Young and the Restless is slim. The showrunner doesn’t seem in a hurry to find the new Adam, something that aggravates the fans greatly.

The Young and the Restless fans want Adam back and cannot imagine watching the show without Adam Newman on the show. Do you think the soap opera will rehire Michael Muhney? If not, do you think the show will recast the role soon? Will he return to Genoa City to tell Nick that he’s Christian’s real papa?
