It turns out Ben Higgins never cut ties with his Bachelor runner-up, JoJo Fletcher. Despite the fact that they both moved on and are now engaged, Hollywood Life reports that Higgins has been communicating with Fletcher behind his fiancee’s back. Will this spell an end to Higgins’s engagement with Lauren Bushnell?
“Ben has been secretly calling JoJo ever since Lauren moved in with him in April,” an insider revealed. “They talked every three or four weeks at first, but it’s become more frequent since the wedding was canceled.”
While Higgins has been chatting with Fletcher, he’s left Bushnell completely in the dark. Given the trio’s complicated past on The Bachelor, things probably won’t end will for Higgins.
“If Lauren knew about it, she’d be devastated… [She] has always been insecure about JoJo,” the source connoted. “Lauren is insanely jealous. She won’t take this lightly at all.”
After getting dumped by Higgins in the Bachelor finale, Fletcher went on to find love with Jordan Rodgers during her run on The Bachelorette. Things seemed fine between Fletcher and Rodgers, yet it now sounds like she’s willing to back to Higgins. Even worse, Jordan has no idea what’s going on behind his back.
“She’s happy in her relationship with him,” the insider stated. “Jordan is absolutely clueless about the calls.”
According to Wetpaint, Higgins and Bushnell recently called off their wedding during an installment of their reality show, Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After. However, during the season finale, the couple decided the wedding was back on.
They still aren’t actively planning for the ceremony, but it appears as though their relationship is still intact. In fact, Higgins and Bushnell are working on their “foundation” instead of rushing into a marriage, something both of their families approve.
“They want us to be happy,” Higgins said about his parents. “They want our relationship to go well and they want us to have a good foundation.”
While Ben Higgins is confident that putting off the wedding was a wise decision, Us Magazine reports that Bushnell has her doubts. During a spa day with friends, Bushnell told her squad that Higgins called things off because she either isn’t “good enough” or “he can’t see life with [her].”
Later, Higgins and Bushnell met up for a romantic night on the Las Vegas strip. Despite his early doubts, Ben reassured Lauren that he was going to marry her.
“I never thought for a second I could live a day without you. Lauren, I’m gonna be your husband. Lauren, you’re gonna be Mrs. Higgins,” he told her.
“Does this mean the wedding is back on?” she asked him.
“Of course it is,” he replied.
The couple has not announced an official wedding date or said whether or not they are actively planning the ceremony. Although their future seems promising, E! News is reporting the fate of their reality show is less certain.
“We really don’t know,” Bushnell said when asked about another season of Ben & Lauren. “We’re trying not to think too far. Until that’s something that’s actually presented to us, we haven’t really even thought about it.”
When it comes to the wedding, Higgins admitted that they still talk about some plans, including attire and food. He fell short of setting a time frame for the ceremony, although he did admit that “it just doesn’t have the immediacy as it did before.”
The couple also talked about the possibility of televising the wedding and admitted that making plans right now are a little overwhelming.
“So we’re trying not to really think about like, is it going to be on TV, or where are we going to live in 10 years. There are so many unanswered questions and so many things that aren’t necessarily in our control, so we’re just trying to enjoy the time now,” Bushnell stated.
