‘Basketball Wives LA’ Rumors: Show Dumping Five Cast Members Including Brandi Maxiell, Picking Up Nick Young’s Baby’s Mother, Keonna Green

Basketball Wives LA is rumored to be headed for a big shakeup, with reports that five longtime cast members are getting cut out of the show for its upcoming season.

The show is reportedly ready to cut out some of its high-profile cast members — Malaysia Pargo, Brandi Maxiell, Angel Brinks, Angel Love, and DJ Duffey — the gossip site Jasmine Brand reported. Current cast members Shaunie O’Neal, Tami Roman, and Jackie Christie will still be on the show, the report added.

Though the rumors indicate a change on Basketball Wives LA, a source close to the show claimed that none of the five ousted cast members would be gone permanently.

“The network wanted to shake things up, so they didn’t renew contracts for Malaysia, Brandi, DJ Duffey, Angel Brinks and Angel Love,” a source revealed. “None of them will be full time, but the network is giving them the opportunity to make a few cameos. We’ll have to see how filming plays out.”

The reports didn’t indicate any particular reason for the cast shakeup, but the open door for a return seems to indicate that none of them are leaving on bad terms.

That is not the only change rumored to be ahead for Basketball Wives LA. A separate report from TMZ claimed that original cast member Evelyn Lozada was coming back to the show along with what the report called “the infamous baby mamas to Nick Young and Dwyane Wade” — Keonna Green and Aja Metoyer, respectively.

As the TMZ report noted, the latest additions to the cast appeared to be made with drama in mind.

“Executive producer Shaunie definitely increased the drama with her new hires. Keonna made headlines when her pregnancy broke up Nick’s engagement to Iggy Azalea. As for Aja, she hooked up with Dwyane when he was allegedly ‘on a break’ from Gabrielle Union.”

Keonna Green has been particularly vocal about her relationship with Nick Young. In an extensive interview with Us Weekly earlier this year, Green claimed that she and Nick Young resumed their relationship in September 2015 — about three months after he and Iggy Azalea got engaged. Green and Young have a long history, as they started dating in high school and also have a 4-year-old son together.

As Green told Us Weekly, the affair wasn’t anything either of them had planned but instead just grew out of the time they spent together with their son.

“We would take our son to Magic Mountain together. But sometimes Nick would say, ‘Oh, there’s too much traffic,’ and he’d just play with Nicholas in his room. We got caught up in the moment and it just happened. I would be like, ‘Nick, you cannot be sloppy. You need to be honest [with Azalea].’ He would say, ‘I don’t want to hear it.’ I don’t know what was going on in his household, but me and Nick have lots of history. It wasn’t a secret on my end. I didn’t feel guilty because I was in love with a man, and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only woman.”

Green went on to say that she also didn’t feel guilty about the ensuing breakup for Nick Young and Iggy Azalea, saying she didn’t believe it was her fault and hinting about Young’s other alleged affairs. But she also added that she and Young likely aren’t getting back together anytime soon.

Those looking to find out if the Basketball Wives LA rumors come true may not have much longer to wait. Reports indicate that taping for the upcoming season is set to start on December 2.
