‘Outlander’ Casts Sam Heughan’s Latest Love Interest For Season 3: What About Caitriona Balfe’s Claire?

Outlander just cast two new faces for Season 3. E! News reports that Hannah James and Tanya Reynolds will play Geneva and Isobel Dunsany, two potential love interests for Sam Heughan’s Jamie Fraser. What about Jamie’s romance with Claire (Caitriona Balfe)?

In the books, Geneva is the oldest Dunsany daughter, who is both beautiful and headstrong. She’s also spoiled and used to getting whatever she desires. Underneath her sulky disposition, however, Geneva is vulnerable because of a sheltered life.

Isobel, on the other hand, is the complete opposite. According to Access Hollywood, not only is she warm and outgoing, but she’s also compassionate with other people, which makes her an ideal match for Jamie.

James is known for her part in Mercy Street as Emma Green, while Reynolds just completed a part on SkyOne’s Delicious. The actresses join a host of new characters for Season 3, including David Berry’s Lord John Grey, Cesar Domboy’s Fergus, Lauren Lyle’s Marsali, John Bell’s Young Ian, and Will Johnson’s Joe Abernathy.

International Business Times reports that Season 3 of Outlander will begin where Season 2 let off with the Battle of Culloden. Claire just traveled back to her own time while Jamie was left to fight with the rebels. The season will follow the characters as they live separate lives for over twenty years before reuniting.

As previously reported by Inquisitr, the reunion might play out as it did in the books, with Jamie and Claire meeting up in the print shop. Executive producer Matthew B. Roberts just shared a script photo that contains the print shop interlude on social media.

Sadly, the script also reveals that Jamie enters the print shop, which is a slight deviation from the books. Despite the discrepancy, Roberts assured fans that everything would work out just fine.

Early in November, Balfe opened up about adapting the show to meet the high demand of fans. When it comes to the print shop scene, Balfe admitted that it’s one of the most talked about moments from the books.

“The first thing everyone talks about is the print shop [where Jamie and Claire are reunited after decades apart]. ‘Are you going to do the print shop? You can’t change one line of the print shop.’ We haven’t actually gotten to film that yet, but I think the writers are well aware that they have to do the fans right. There’s Jamie and the cave, and I think there’s a lot of Claire and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) stuff that fans are looking forward to as well,” she explained.

While Jamie and Claire’s reunion will be a highlight of the new season of Outlander, many fans are left wondering when he will finally meet his daughter, Brianna. In Diana Gabaldon’s series, Jamie doesn’t get introduced to Brianna until he and Claire make their way to the United States in book four, Drums of Autumn.

Meanwhile, many fans expressed their disappointment with the lack of intimate scenes between Jamie and Claire last season. Thankfully, Balfe told Vanity Fair that Season 3 would see a return to the steamier side of their romance. The only bad part is that fans might have to wait a while before any of it happens.

“There will be some other sex going on. I think to really let the reunion and everything that’s going to happen once Jamie and Claire see each other, I think it’s really special. Maybe they’ll have to wait a little bit, but I don’t think it’s going to be as scarce as last season, shall we say?” she revealed.

Production for Season 3 of Outlander is currently underway.
