Kanye West's net worth has taken quite a hit over the last one month, even as he still struggles to recuperate from the dramatic Kim Kardashian robbery that took place in Paris in October.
Reports about the couple sparring in the wake of the robbery had dominated much of the celebrity news media, before Kanye shocked his fans by canceling the rest of his "Saint Pablo Tour" a couple of weeks ago on November 19. Soon after, news broke that Yeezy had been admitted to a hospital for stress, dehydration and sleep deprivation.
TMZ reported at the time that Kanye West had been taken to UCLA Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation. According to the report, cops responded to a call for a welfare check on Kanye at his trainer's home, where the rapper was "acting erratically" and someone decided it was in his best interest that the police be involved.Since then, rumors have been rife about the state of Kanye and Kim's marriage, and what finally made the rapper snap during his tour. Conspiracy theorists have been quick to leverage the situation too, concocting stories which vaguely explain the developments of the last two weeks.
There have also been reports that Kanye West's net worth is going to take a huge hit on account of him canceling the tour, with IBT reporting that Kanye stands to lose as much as $30 million because of the entire ordeal. Out of the $30 million, Forbes reports, about $10 million will come from loss of tickets, while close to another $20 million might be lost because of the cutting short of merchandise sales. While Kanye did have insurance coverage in case of sickness, the policy isn't iron clad. In the event of him being admitted to the hospital because of "unreasonable or capricious behavior," Kanye West could lose the entire $30 million.
This might come as a huge blow to the Life of Pablo star, who claimed earlier this year that he was $53 million in debt. If true, the recent developments are not only going to add to the existing turmoil that Kim and Kanye have been subject to since Kim's grueling robbery in a Parisian hotel room, but will create financial restraints for the celebrity couple, which might inadvertently affect their relationship.
During the entire time that Kanye has been hospitalized, West and his other family members have observed radio silence, commenting neither on his emotional state, nor on the rumors that Kanye's net worth would suffer dramatically as a result of him pulling out of the "Saint Pablo Tour." But while Kanye West and Kim Kardashian might themselves not have much to say, as the LA Times put it, "the gossip-sphere abhors a vacuum, and unnamed sources have been more than willing to talk."
So what do we really know about the celebrity couple since the Kim Kardashian robbery? Well first, that it has certainly taken a toll on the pair, as is evident by Kanye's hospital episode, and Kim's general reluctance to face the media since the incident. Kim was set to make her first public appearance in New York City, but Kanye's sudden hospitalization meant she had to cut it short to be at her hubby's side.
US Weekly also reported that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West started having troubles after the robbery, which "made her more hesitant to do things," which included being backstage during Kanye's "Saint Pablo Tour," something which the reality star could not live with.
"They were fighting because he was impossible to live with," said a source close to the couple.
But other sources maintained that although Kanye was suffering from an emotional breakdown because of the robbery and the subsequent loss of finances, Kim Kardashian was doing all she can to take care of him.
"Kim does spend hours with Kanye every day," a source told People.
It is true that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are having the most torrid time in their marriage, and while it is possible that the incidents of the last two months might finally be a breaking point in the relationship, the fact is that the couple are staying put for now.
Whether or not Kanye West's net worth loss will have a negative impact on their future is something we can only know in the coming days.
