If you’ve decided a gift card is the best gift to give someone for the 2016 Holiday Season, keep reading to learn about some of the better gift cards.

1. Amazon Gift Card

If you really aren’t sure whether the person you are buying a gift for shops at Walmart, Banana Republic, or Target, you can’t go wrong with an Amazon gift card. Per Go Bank Rates, you can buy just about anything from Amazon. With Banana Republic or some other gift cards, you may be required to purchase cards of predetermined amounts. Some stores may also have a minimum amount you have to purchase.

With Amazon, gift cards range from $1 to $2,000. This is also a convenient option as you do not actually have to give a plastic gift card. You have the option of giving an electronic gift card by email or having a plastic card sent via traditional mail.

2. Walmart Gift Card

OK, so not everyone likes Amazon. For example, if you have a friend or family member who doesn’t like to shop online, buying them an Amazon gift card isn’t the best option. You could go with a Banana Republic or Kohl’s gift card, but you may not know whether your loved one enjoys shopping at stores that specific.

When in doubt, a gift card from Walmart is a safe bet for the 2016 Holiday Season. Walmart is a big-box retailer with a wide range of products both online and in store. As an added bonus, there are thousands of Walmart stores all over the United States.

An interesting tidbit of information some people do not know is Walmart gift cards can also be used at Sam’s Club and Vudu.com. Walmart cards do not have a fee and they never expire. You can even have Walmart gift cards shipped – for free. With a Banana Republic or Kohl’s gift card, you may be required to go to the store to purchase a gift card in person.

Walmart gift cards are also easy to re-gift or re-sell. Most people are willing to pay nearly full price for a Walmart gift card. So, it is an easy gift to get rid of in the off chance the person you bought it for doesn’t want it.

3. Target Gift Card

Like Amazon, Walmart isn’t for everyone. Target is another big-box retailer that is an ideal choice. Buying a gift card from this store will give the person you are shopping for a lot of options when they go to redeem it. Again, you can purchase gift cards in plastic or electronic form.

4. Best Buy Gift Card

If you are shopping for someone who loves electronics for the 2016 Holiday Season, you can’t go wrong with a Best Buy gift card. The biggest reason why Best Buy is ideal is because they will match their competitor prices. So, your recipient can take advantage of the policy and get the most value for the gift card.

5. Gap Gift Card

A Gap gift card is a fun option because it can be used to purchase items at Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Athleta. This is, of course, in addition to shopping at the Gap. You can buy Gap gift cards online or traditionally. The cards can be used at an Old Navy, Banana Republic, Athleta, or Gap store or website.
