Fiat Heir Busted For Faking Kidnapping After Two Day Bender With Transgender Escort

Lapo Elkann, the grandson of Gianni Agnelli, the founder of Fiat, is in some serious trouble with the NYPD, because he has been arrested for faking his own kidnapping to cover for a two day bender with a transgender escort. And sadly for Elkann, this is not his first dance with law enforcement.

Elkann is starting to sound a bit like the Charlie Sheen of Italy, as he seems to have too much free time, and too much money to spend on drugs and escorts, according to a previous report by the Inquisitr. Sheen, who now claims that since his HIV diagnosis he has cleaned up his act, spent many years drinking, drugging, and stating proudly that he was the top client of Heidi Fleiss, the Hollywood Madam. He says that he has quit drugs, and cut down on his drinking in an attempt to extend his life, and keep the virus under detectable levels.

Page Six says that Lapo Elkann, 39 ran up quite a bill, using cocaine, pot, and alcohol, provided by an escort, and tried to pay it off by calling his family, and claiming he had been kidnapped, hoping they would send the money, and cover his tab. But things didn’t work out that way, and now Elkann is awaiting arraignment on charges of the false reporting of a crime.

In 2005, Elkann almost died when he overdosed on cocaine and heroin along with a transsexual prostitute at home in Italy. But this time, Lapo Elkann called his family, asking for $10k in order to have his kidnappers release him from the New York housing project where he claimed he was being held.

But the family thought something smelled fishy, and called the police. As a result, Elkann filed charges against the escort in order to deflect from his own guilt, and so the escort was busted, and charged with grand larceny. But the escort then spilled the beans, and the police adjusted their investigation to focus the spotlight back on Elkann. As a result, charges were dropped against the escort, and Elkann was arrested instead. The mistake Lapo Elkann made, according to police, was using his own cellphone to make the ransom call to his family.

Lapo Elkann is now due back in court in January for his arraignment on the charges of filing a false police report. The date of the arraignment is January 25th. Lapo Elkann has had legal problems with drugs and hookers in Europe, but he was also arrested by the NYPD back in 2006, but that case was sealed, and so details are unavailable (there is not word on whether prosecutors will petition to have the file unsealed for the latest case.

Elkann’s current problems began when he flew into NYC on Thanksgiving, and began blowing up the phones of several escort agencies. Lapo Elkann made contact with a female escort on West 49th Street, where she introduced him to a transgender escort, identified as Curtis McKinstry.

Before leaving for New York, Elkann left a now ironic video message for friends and family.

“I’ll be seeing many interesting characters in the creative field and in the entrepreneurial field in the next few days.”

Indeed Lapo, indeed.

The Daily Beast says that Lapo Elkann is better known for his partying and jet set lifestyle than he is for any actual work. Elkann has continued his bad boy reputation amongst his family with his scrapes with the law and overdosing. When Lapo was in trouble, overdosing with the prostitute in Turin, Italy back in 2oo5, he said he planned to turn his life around.

“I’ve been an idiot. try to think about the constructive path.”

Do you think Lapo Elkann will be jailed for his current crimes?
