Kylie Jenner Stole Ideas: Makeup Artist Threatens Cosmetic Lawsuit

Kylie Jenner allegedly jacked the style of a makeup artist’s photographs for her own makeup line, Kylie Cosmetics. The woman is threatening to drop the legal hammer on the reality star whose cosmetic images look so strikingly similar, it is hard to believe Jenner didn’t copy them.

Kylie Jenner specializes in makeup, often posting creative cosmetic images on her Instagram to promote her Kylie Cosmetics line. TMZ reported that a woman named Vlada Haggerty is claiming that Kylie Jenner has totally copied her photographs from Instagram, featuring women striking various poses which accentuate their lips.

Vlada’s Instagram is filled with images of pale women with dark lips, often resembling those of Kylie Jenner’s.

Both the makeup artist and her professional photographer claim that Kylie has stolen the style of the photographs to promote her own cosmetic line.

In a detailed post on Master Beauty Photography, the photographer Julia Kuzmenko McKim claimed that she and Vlada came up with the original concept as a part of a “See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil”-themed shoot. The concept was not to promote a brand, it was so they could practice their crafts as artists, build their names, and hopefully get paid work.

Kylie Jenner has taken their concept and is now using it in her latest campaign to sell lip kits.

Despite Vlada’s claims against Jenner, the ideas themselves are not legally protected, just the images, and while Kylie’s version may be similar, they are not exact. Vlada Haggarty continues to threaten a lawsuit against the reality star.

The makeup artist also suggested that this was not the first time Kylie Jenner has taken ideas from her.

“Haven’t you gotten enough ‘inspiration’ from me already?”

TMZ reached out to Kylie Jenner’s reps, but have not heard back.

Kylie Jenner has been accused of copying other companies makeup color palettes as well. Celebuzz reported that Jenner’s eyeshadow palette for Kylie Cosmetics copied YouTube star and beauty vlogger Shannon Harris’s palette, which was created in collaboration with BH Cosmetics.

Jenner’s Kyshadow sold out in minutes after it was released online for $42 a pop. Meanwhile, Harris’ palette sells for $22.

Kylie has also been accused of ripping off the cult-favorite cosmetics company ColourPop’s Ultra Matte Lip Stain in Clueless, Beeper, and Limbo. Kylie’s lip kit shades Candy K, Dolce K, and True Brown K looked remarkably similar to theirs.

Stealing style apparently runs in the family.

Jenner’s sister Kim Kardashian has been accused of stealing the style of a Serbian pop star, Jelena Karleusa. After Kim Kardashian revealed some new platinum blonde, short locks last year, the singer claimed that the reality star totally jacked her style.

According to Us Weekly, Jelena Karleusa said she invented the fierce image years ago.

“I think that her stylists are inspired by my IG page.”

“I don’t have a stylist, I do it all by myself.”

The Serbian pop star has been topping the charts in Europe since the nineties. She has over 369,000 followers on Instagram and in 2013, W magazine dubbed her the “Gaga of Serbia.”

The pop star claimed she does not harbor any ill will toward Kardashian.

“She is beautiful, so it doesn’t matter if she put anything on her head.

She doesn’t need hair at all.”
