Selena Gomez: Why She Allegedly Turned Down Taylor Swift’s Thanksgiving Dinner Invitation

Selena Gomez reportedly turned down Taylor Swift’s invitation to join her and a couple of friends at a Thanksgiving dinner.

The singer, who made her first public appearance in months at the American Music Awards last Sunday, is gradually improving as far as her health is concerned, but sources reveal that the 24-year-old is in no place to leave her family just yet.

According to Hollywood Life, Selena Gomez has been spending most of her time with relatives, who have supported her throughout her time in rehab while battling her lupus condition.

Over the summer, Gomez publicly admitted to having struggled to get out on tour every single night and to perform to thousands of fans with her lupus condition gradually worsening with every single show she was scheduled to perform at.

Now that she has left rehab, however, Selena is taking no risks, so instead of getting back to hanging with friends, Gomez solely wants to surround herself with family members until she feels comfortable enough to stand on her own two feet again.

“Taylor [Swift] invited Selena [Gomez] to her big Thanksgiving dinner, but right now Selena just wants to be with her family,” a source tells Hollywood Life. “Spending time with them is her priority.”

As previously revealed, several reports had claimed that Gomez had gotten in contact with her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber following a nasty feud that erupted over the summer concerning the “Purpose” singer’s relationship with Sofia Richie.

Selena Gomez was left puzzled after hearing about Justin’s anger at fans, who refused to accept his relationship with Richie. The “Hands To Myself” hitmaker responded to Bieber, saying that if he didn’t want fans to get upset, he should refrain himself from posting photos of Sofia on his Instagram page.

This resulted in quite the feud between Selena and Justin, who would go on to accuse the troubled singer of cheating on him with former One Direction star Zayn Malik.

It’s unclear how long Selena Gomez plans on staying with her family members, but considering that the Christmas holidays are just around the corner, there’s no chance that she will be returning to the music industry this year.

Reports have claimed, however, that Selena has already started working on her next album. Prior to checking into rehab, Gomez is said to have penned multiple tracks for the next record, so whenever she decides to finish off the project, those songs are expected to make the cut.

Hollywood Life, for one reason or the other, is convinced that the songs Selena has already recorded are most likely going to be about her relationship with Justin Bieber — the ex-boyfriend fans believe Selena was never able to get over.

Last week, a report claimed the twosome had gotten back in touch and even spoke to one another while Selena Gomez was in rehab. A rep for the singer neither confirmed nor denied the story, leading fans to think that there may be some truth to the allegation.

After all, Justin has been experiencing his share of bad publicity as of late, prompting one source to claim that the duo has been supporting one another through their difficulties.

Selena Gomez has yet to confirm when she’ll make her official comeback to the music industry, having yet to acknowledge her achievement of being the most followed person on Instagram. She did, however, share a heartfelt post on the photo-sharing platform, writing that she’s extremely thankful for her fans’ support, as revealed by Billboard.
