‘No Man’s Sky’ Finally Breaks Silence With Foundation Update Announcement

After more than two months of silence, No Man’s Sky devs broke their silence and announced the arrival of the Foundation Update.

No Man’s Sky was released to an overly-hyped crowd hungry for the promises the game dropped during its marketing period. But months after its release, No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games drowned players in radio silence following a number of investigations over alleged false advertising, reports of employees leaving the company, and social media and server hacking.

At the moment, all Hello Games wants is for everyone to move on and focus on the bright future of No Man’s Sky. The game’s devs are finally bringing us news of the upcoming Foundation Update for No Man’s Sky.

Posting on the official No Man’s Sky blog, Hello Games devs announced that a much-awaited update for the controversial title is on the way.

What is the Foundation Update? The No Man’s Sky devs are calling it the Foundation Update because it brings the foundations of the exciting base building as well as putting in place a foundation for a lot of new things to come in No Man’s Sky.

This announcement is then followed by an emotional explanation of No Man’s Sky’s journey from its release to this point — an effort to quell the hunger and outrage of No Man’s Sky players who have been clamoring for an explanation over the past few weeks.

“Coming from five years of intense development, immediately after No Man’s Sky released the team spent six weeks updating the game with 7 patches across both platforms (the last of these was 1.09 on Sept 24th which you can read about them all here http://www.no-mans-sky.com/log/). These fixed many of the most common or critical bugs and issues post-release.

“In the nine weeks since then our small team has been hard at work on development, testing and certification for the Foundation Update. It won’t be our biggest update, but it is the start of something.

“The discussion around No Man’s Sky since release has been intense and dramatic. We have been quiet, but we are listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and feels so passionately about.”

No Man’s Sky has really taken a dive since it was awarded the Game Award for Most Anticipated Game of 2016, garnering the worse reviews from critics and receiving plummeting scores on Steam. Even with No Man’s Sky at as low as $40 off on Steam, it seems no one is interested in picking it up anytime soon.

But the No Man’s Sky devs are knocking on the hearts of those they have let down and assures players that their cries and agitation did not fall on deaf ears.

“Positive or negative feedback, you have been heard and that will truly help to make this a better game for everyone. This update will be the first small step in a longer journey. We hope you can join us.”

The last patch for No Man’s Sky dates back to September 24. As for what kind of things are they cooking up for the Foundation Update for No Man’s Sky, the devs promise the following.

“Detailed patch notes will follow, and release will be soon.”

On a more positive note, Express UK reports that folks at the No Man’s Sky subreddit are holding a fundraiser for cancer research to “celebrate” the lack of communication from the No Man’s Sky team and Sean Murray. A good way to divert your frustration for No Man’s Sky would be to check out their fundraising campaign called No Man’s Sky Journey to Stop Cancer in hopes that it could “generate some positivity in this bleak space.”

According to their counter at the No Man’s Sky subreddit, it’s Day 98 since Sean Murray last communicated about No Man’s Sky, and Redditor BaRKy191 insists that despite the new Foundation Update posted on the blog, the timer will not be reset until Sean Murray himself speaks up.
