The Young and the Restless viewers had nearly accepted that Adam Newman might not return for a few years. They didn’t like it, but they accepted it. Then, Sharon Case, the actor who portrays Sharon McAvoy, let it slip out in a Q&A session on Facebook that the Young and the Restless (might) be planning a surprise Adam return in the coming months.
Immediately after Sharon Case dished that Adam could return soon, social media exploded. The Young and the Restless fans needed to know more, and they wanted all the details — stat. As it turns out, there are no details to dish out because the Y&R is tight-lipped about any possible Adam Newman return.
CBS Soaps In Depth reported that Case’s innocent remark turned into a huge speculation as she teased that Adam would return in a few months. Of course, the Young and the Restless fans assumed she meant he would return for February sweeps, which caused a fan frenzy.
One of the biggest questions the Young and the Restless fans have asked seems to be what actor will portray the handsome hunk. It looks like we have three possibilities right now — Justin Hartley, Michael Muhney, or Scott Elrod.
Justin Hartley left the Young and the Restless for his prime time show, This Is Us. He’s made it pretty apparent that he doesn’t plan on returning to daytime television ever again. If that wasn’t clear enough, Sally Sussman told the Young and the Restless fans that Hartley would never appear on the daytime soap opera again. So we can cross Justin’s name off the list of the likely Adam Newman possibilities.
Michael could be returning to the Young and the Restless. He has been coy with his responses when asked about it on social media. Michael knows the part after playing him for several years and being forced out of the role. The one problem with his return is that he didn’t get along with Eric Braeden (Victor Newman), so that could put a damper on returning to the soap opera.
Scott previously portrayed Joe Clark, but many viewers have stated they could see him as Adam more so than Joe. The Young and the Restless sent Joe off to jail for a few years and dropped Elrod to recurring status. Many The Young and the Restless fans assumed that meant that he wouldn’t return, but a comment that the new head writer made has the viewers wondering if he’s returning to the CBS soap opera. Do you think Scott Elrod could make a good Adam Newman?
Will Adam Return For Sharon?
The Young and the Restless seems to be building up a reunion between Sharon and Adam. The past few months, the CBS soap opera has hinted that Sharon will need someone to rescue her from this mess she created with the Sully/Christian mix-up. Is it possible that Adam will return to save Sharon from a Newman ousting once again?
It seems unlikely that Adam would come back to Genoa City and shack up with Sharon. He has professed his undying love for Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), so the Young and the Restless fans expect him to return to his wife. That doesn’t mean he won’t come back and be there for Sharon, but as far as Shadam, the fans don’t see it happening. The Young and the Restless‘ casting director refused to comment on any possible Adam return.
The Young and the Restless fans, do you think Adam Newman will return to Genoa City by February sweeps? Who would you like to take over the role of Adam?
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays only on CBS daytime.
