‘Vikings’ Season 4 Part 2: As The Release Date Approaches, Here’s What To Expect In Episode 11

Fans have eagerly been awaiting the release date for Season 4 Part 2 of History’s Vikings. Now, with only a week left to go, here’s what fans can expect in Episode 11.

Spoiler Alert: This article discusses the Season 4 return of History’s Vikings. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

Episode 11 of History’s Vikings Season 4 is called “The Outsider.” The synopsis for Episode 11, according to History’s press site, is as follows.

“Ragnar has returned to Kattegat and there are secrets to be revealed. He makes plans to return to Wessex to right past wrongs but finds that those who were once his closest allies now have plans of their own. Even the Lothbrok sons refuse to join their father’s mission – except one.”

As revealed in this spoiler-free review of Season 4 Part 2, Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) had a terrible time in Season 4 Part 1 of Vikings. Episode 10 saw Ragnar return to Kattegat after a long absence. While he taunts his sons to challenge him for the throne, it appears none will duel in order to replace him.

Episode 11 of Vikings will now deal with Ragnar as he prepares to return to Wessex and confront King Ecbert (Linus Roache) about the Viking village he decimated but told Ragnar he had protected.

As the synopsis reveals, Ragnar will have a hard time trying to get people to join him on his mission in Season 4 Part 2 of Vikings. Not even his sons seem eager to follow him. However, could his son, Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen), be the one to follow him?

According to an interview with Alex Høgh Andersen on Carter Matt, Ragnar will “fill [Ivar] with ambition” when he returns to Kattegat. He will encourage Ivar to “develop and do something, go out into the world.” This indicates Ragnar could, potentially, convince Ivar to travel with him to Wessex. And, as the show’s creator, Michael Hirst, also points out in the interview, Ivar goes on to be a “great military strategist.”

Along with Ragnar’s storyline in Episode 11 of Season 4 Part 2, Lagertha’s (Katheryn Winnick) new love interest, Astrid (Josefin Asplund), is introduced. Lagertha has had many doomed relationships with men in previous seasons of Vikings. And this is one of the reasons she turns to a woman in her next relationship, according to an interview Katheryn Winnick did with Showbiz Junkies.

“Lagertha has been betrayed by so many men throughout her life, obviously Ragnar by cheating on her and asking her to be a second wife, and then her second husband was abusive, and then Kalf who she groomed tried to use her up and she had to kill him on her wedding day. So her relationship with men, I’m not sure it will change. I’m not sure she will ever trust a man again.”

Astrid is a shield maiden, and a recent teaser released by ET Online for Vikings Season 4 Part 2 shows Lagertha and Astrid training together.

In the clip, Lagertha tells Astrid she needs her to “be ready”; however, she does not reveal just what she needs to be ready for. Considering Lagertha is set to confront Ragnar’s second wife, Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland), in Season 4 Part 2 of Vikings, could this be what the pair are training for? Only by tuning into Episode 11 of History’s Vikings will reveal the answer.
