Donald Trump’s Christmas Ornament On Sale As Trump’s Hollywood Star Getting ‘Secret Service Like’ Protection

Donald Trump’s Christmas ornament is up for (very expensive) grabs just as another kind of Trump ornament is getting some special attention. The Washington Post reports that Donald fans are jumping to buy a “Make America Great Again” hat ornament to decorate their Christmas trees, but for others, reminders of the President-elect aren’t so welcome. One Twitter user tweeted tongue-in-cheek that Donald Trump says there will be no Christmas.

Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is the center of some high-level security action after its recent repairs following a vandalism incident during the election campaign. According to TMZ, law enforcement officials are going on patrol to protect the star from vandals. As Christmas approaches, people are getting irritable with last minute shopping pressures, and the crowds around the Walk of Fame star ornament are getting into arguments, so there seems to be some justification for the extra protection. One passerby tweeted, “I walk past people arguing around Trumps’ Hollywood Star.”

USA Today reported that Trump’s star was destroyed back in October, when James Otis, 52, “used a pickaxe and a sledgehammer to smash the star on Oct. 26.” Otis said he’d “had enough with Mr. Trump’s aggressive language toward women and his behavior, his sexual violence with women and against women” and decided to do something about it.

Now, the star is repaired, but Otis faces up to three years in jail for his anti-Trump ornament attack. He said that he doesn’t regret his actions at all.

“I will gladly pay the money if I have to and if I must go to jail, I will.”

The LAPD is planning on keeping this Trump ornament under 24/7 surveillance, and it’s not because they think someone might want to steal pieces to use as a Trump Christmas ornament. The LAPD “will have 2 officers on foot patrol in the area” and are also going to make sure there’s a regular vehicle patrol, a camera “trained on Trump’s star,” and private security in the area alerted and updated just in case someone slips by the patrol officers.

Some Twitter using Trump fans are furious over the attack on the star and are taking to Twitter to speak their minds.

Others are in favor of the destruction and aren’t hesitant to tell Twitter exactly what they think. One anti-Trump Twitter user put his feelings into one word. “Good,” he tweeted, along with a photo of the smashed star.

Since the attack, a “protective barrier” has remained around the star, which was “given to Trump in 2007 for his work on the reality show The Apprentice.” The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is responsible for the walk but has not made any announcement about when or if the barrier will be removed. Otis himself is out on bail, but on Friday, November 25, he’s going to find out whether the assault on Trump’s star will cost him a hefty fine or even jail time.

In the meantime, fans who want to enjoy a slice of Trump’s glitter can still get a free glimpse of the star from behind the barricade, but they’ll have to have deep pockets to purchase one of the “Make America Great Again” Trump Christmas ornaments.

The tiny baseball caps are “made of brass and finished with 14-karat gold,” and cost a whopping $149. That’s the same as “two days of the annual household income in Elliott County, Ky.,” or “half a workweek at the federal minimum wage.” At that price, it’s not likely that Trump’s many critics will want to buy one of his Christmas ornaments to take any Hollywood Star action. Since so many Trump supporters are the “working-class white voters,” it’s also not too likely that they’ll sell except to his elite, wealthy friends. “Merry Christmas,” as Donald Trump “makes a point of proudly saying… every chance he gets.”
