Spice Girls Reunion Canceled? Song Leak, Geri Horner Pregnancy Give Weight To ‘GEM’ Breakup Rumors

The three-out-of-five Spice Girls reunion may have hit a bit of a bump — a baby bump, that is.

Despite teases, interviews, and official websites created to publicize the reforming of Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), and Geri Horner (nee Halliwell – Ginger Spice) as Spice Girls GEM, the Morning Ledger is reporting that Horner’s recently announced pregnancy may have forced the ladies to halt the project.

Geri, 44, first shared the news of her upcoming bundle of joy with hubby Christian Horner via a handwritten Instagram post in mid-October.

Despite the joyous nature of the news, however, one person in particular, Melanie Brown, was said to be “not pleased” about the motherly matter and purportedly unfollowed Geri on all of her social media accounts. Also, in a newly-released interview with Austalia’s Daily Telegraph, the 41-year-old singer relayed a statement that seemed to loan quite a bit of credence to the rumors of the second Spice Girls reunion being a no-go for now.

“I wish there was something [new] to say,” Brown remarked.

“I’m fed up with talking about it because until it is absolutely set in stone and everybody gets their arse in gear, there is [really] nothing to say.”

Ouch!

She did, however, seem to at least imply that once the other Spice Girls were indeed ready, she would be, too.

“If the girls said to me in January, ‘We’ve booked five shows in the UK,’ I’d drop everything and be there. Without those girls and without me being a Spice Girl and being part of that craziness, I wouldn’t be sitting here… saying, ‘Yeah, I’m Scary Spice.’ I owe those girls everything.”

Speaking of “giving you everything” — see what I did there? — the song that was whispered to be the lead-off single of the Spice Girls reunion project has found its way to the internet.

The upbeat tune, called “Song For Her,” popped up in full on several online venues, including YouTube and some other not-so-legal channels, following a leak of a snippet several weeks ago, so says DigitalSpy. While the Inquisitr cannot share the complete song for obvious reasons, a clip of it can be heard below.

As most might imagine, longtime Spice Girls fans immediately grabbed hold of the jam and went a bit mad (in the best way!) about its release on social media. Here are just a few of their happy reactions.

Many believe that the unsanctioned release of “Song For Her” is further proof that the lid has been temporarily tightened on the Spice Girls reunion, but no official word from any of the GEM members have been made as of yet.

A few weeks ago, while performing her daily hosting duties on Heart FM Breakfast in the United Kingdom, Bunton remarked that the song was just something that she, Horner and Brown recorded for kicks.

“You know, us girls love creating stuff,” Emma said.

“We [just] went and had a laugh in the studio. It’s not a single, it’s just we were creating. It’s just a demo and somehow, it has [gotten] out there.”

Along with “Song For Her,” two other songs, “Get Involved” and “Humanity,” that were recorded not for the Spice Girls reunion, but Horner’s as-of-yet unreleased fourth solo album, Man On The Moon, also leaked out to the internet in full on Tuesday. No word on how they might affect any future plans — if said plans are even still in motion.
