Cynthia Bailey Divorce: Did Peter Thomas Go Behind Her Back During Divorce Proceedings?

Cynthia Bailey really struggled with the decision to divorce her husband, Peter Thomas. Last year while filming The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Bailey questioned her marriage because her husband was caught getting a little too close to another woman while living in Charlotte, North Carolina. Throughout several months, Cynthia questioned whether her marriage was worth staying in, because he was living full-time in Charlotte while she was living and working in Atlanta. They were simply growing apart.

According to a new Bravo report, Cynthia Bailey is now revealing that she was shocked to learn that her husband and her own sister went behind her back to discuss the divorce. On Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Bailey learned that Peter had called her own sister, Malorie. The two didn’t always get along, as Malorie and Cynthia’s mother considered hiding the marriage license before the wedding to stop the wedding altogether.

So, when Cynthia Bailey learned that Peter and her sister had talked behind her back about the divorce, she was surprised. Bailey and her sister are close friends, so she had opened up about her feelings when she announced that she was splitting from Peter. Bailey was surprised to learn that her estranged husband also found comfort in Mal and had called her behind Cynthia’s back.

“Due to their history in the past, she was actually the last person I thought he would call to discuss our divorce issues with. Mal and I are very close, and she is the person that I feel the most comfortable pouring out my heart to. I can be completely transparent with her. Not only is she my sister, she is my confidante. Wasn’t sure how I felt about sharing her,” Cynthia Bailey explains in her Bravo blog, sharing that she is very surprised to learn that they are indeed speaking to one another and her sister is helping him through the divorce.

On The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Cynthia really struggled with the decision to divorce her husband. On the one hand, she didn’t want to be married to Peter anymore, as they were growing apart. On the other hand, Bailey didn’t want to give up and shut the door on her husband, as she does love him and she does see him as a close friend.

“Although Mal and Peter have bumped heads quite a bit in the past, they definitely have gotten along better over the last few years. I really don’t have a problem with Peter reaching out to Mal; however I do have a problem with Peter reaching out to Mal and Mal not letting me know,” Cynthia Bailey explains in her Bravo blog about how she felt a little betrayed as she only learned later that her husband had reached out to her own sister to discuss the divorce.

But it sounds like Bailey would rather have Peter talk to her sister than keep his feelings to himself and struggle with the divorce. On The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Thomas told Cynthia that he had struggled with the divorce and had even struggled with chest pains. While Bailey wants out of the marriage, she does want a happy Peter in her life.

“I am a lover of love, and I always follow my heart. No matter what! I guess you can call me a hopeless romantic. In my relationships I am committed, loving, and very loyal. When I am in, I am all in. On the flip side, when I’m done, I am done. This was not an overnight decision, and I am at peace with it,” Cynthia explains to Bravo.
