Kanye West Cancels Los Angeles Forum Show At The Last-Minute

Kanye West was set to perform late Sunday night at The Forum in Los Angeles, California, as part of The Saint Pablo Tour. But according to ABC 7, the show was canceled just moments before it was set to begin. West’s representatives have not yet returned requests for comment.

Kanye West has had a rocky time of it over the last week; at a concert in San Jose, he told the audience that he hadn’t voted in the recent election, but that if he had, he would have voted for Donald Trump. The announcement was met with boos from the crowd.

“Sometimes you might have to not get your way in order to really understand what to do in the future to be able to get your way,” he told them. West also reiterated his plans to run for President in 2020, and, oddly enough, expressed appreciation for Trump’s wall.

At a subsequent show on Saturday in Sacramento, according to the New York Times, West showed up over an hour late, played three songs, and proceeded to go on a 17-minute rant about politics, awards shows, radio programmers, Hillary Clinton, Jay Z and Beyoncé, MTV, Mark Zuckerberg, and more. He likened himself to Donald Trump at one point. And then he ended the show after only three songs with a mic-drop, leaving fans angry and disappointed.

“It’s a new world, Hillary Clinton, it’s a new world. Feelings matter. Because guess what? Everybody in Middle America felt a way and they showed you how they felt.”

The Sunday night concert at The Forum was intended as a make-up concert for a November 3 show that was cut short after West left the stage, only having performed for a half hour, due to, supposedly, a hoarse voice.

“I’m so hoarse. I can’t finish the show. I can’t let y’all have a show where I can’t perform for you. I’ll give everyone a refund. I’m very sorry. I love you. I’ll do better next time.”

Many have speculated in light of West’s rants, compounded by the abrupt cancellation of Sunday night’s show, that he may be suffering a mental breakdown. Adding further fuel to these speculations, since the attenuated concert on Saturday, according to Pitchfork, West has been flooding his Instagram account with pictures from old Maison Margiela lookbooks – although according to social media, many of the pictures being posted even as the cancellation was announced feature West’s new fashion collection.

Meanwhile, other sources have suggested that the rapper will be taking some time out to address personal issues. No definite reason has been given for the cancellation thus far, but Ticketmaster has confirmed that they will be refunding ticket purchases (again) and that any tickets purchased online or by phone will be automatically refunded. The Forum in Inglewood also noted the same on Twitter.

This isn’t the first time recently that rumors of a nervous breakdown have swirled around Kanye West; in early October, many outlets reported rumors that the star was on the edge of one after his New York fashion show fiasco and wife Kim Kardashian’s robbery at gunpoint – and he’s never been the most stable individual to begin with. According to the rumors, West had a meltdown after the show’s failure, and fired all the staffers involved.

Of course, the rumors have never been confirmed, but West’s recent rants, late appearances, truncated shows and cancelled events are certainly indicative that not all is well, and perhaps Kanye will be taking a much-needed break.
