Ben Higgins And Lauren Bushnell Split! Former ‘Bachelor’ Cancels Their Wedding, She Was Completely ‘Blindsided’

Are Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell headed for a split? The former Bachelor stars just pulled the plug on their wedding during the latest episode of Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After. Will they work through their issues and tie the knot? Or are they doomed for an emotional breakup?

According to Us Magazine, Higgins and Bushnell reached the shocking decision to postpone the wedding during a joint counseling session with Grant Kemp and Lace Morris. Higgins assured Bushnell that he still wants to exchange vows, but he doesn’t want to rush into anything before they’ve spent some more time together.

“So you’re saying the wedding is off?” Bushnell asked during the session.

“Yeah, I am. The wedding’s off…,” Higgins replied. “I think this thing sped up real fast, and we haven’t had a second to breathe.”

Hollywood Life reported that Higgins shocking revelation came after he confessed that he and Bushnell still have a lot of things to work out in their relationship. Despite spending months together following the end of The Bachelor, Higgins believes that they need more time to get to know each other.

“With everything that I’ve learned today and everything we’ve learned about each other, still, after just that short time in there, I think when it comes to the wedding, I feel like we have so much to figure out,” he shared. “It’s hard for me at this point to like really feel comfortable getting married.”

Bushnell was clearly shocked by the news and didn’t understand why Higgins was having cold feet. When the Bachelor star said they “just haven’t done anything,” Bushnell told him, “When you say that we just haven’t done anything, it hurts because I’ve moved to Denver and had to switch jobs, and I left my life in L.A. to come and do the life with you.”

Bushnell later told the camera, “I have no idea what just happened. I feel completely blindsided.”

The couple made the wedding postponement official during a later conversation with Bachelor host Chris Harrison. Earlier in the season, Harrison tried to get Higgins and Bushnell to televise the ceremony.

“I’m sorry to hear the wedding’s off, but I just want what’s best for you,” he told them.

The situation didn’t improve throughout the episode. Later, the pair went to Las Vegas to attend the iHeart Radio Music Festival. During the concert, Higgins tried to convince Bushnell to dance, but she refused, saying it was too awkward with everyone watching.

“I feel like Ben and I are miles apart but we still have to pretend like we’re on the same page,” Bushnell confessed.

It still isn’t clear if Bushnell and Higgins are together, but if things don’t improve soon then it definitely looks like they are headed for a breakup. According to Heavy, Bushnell recently opened up about the curse of reality TV and admitted that she and Ben Higgins are putting their relationship first.

“You hear a lot about a reality TV curse or whatever, and I think most of that just becomes from the relationship then not being first because there are so many distractions around,” Bushnell explained.

“That was Ben and I’s first discussion that we had, that regardless of what we do, whether it’s a TV show or it comes to our jobs, our relationship has to come first. We’ve both agreed upon that since the beginning and with this it’s no different. Nothing is going to get in the way, and it if does, we’re going to have to reevaluate at that time.”

Higgins echoed Bushnell’s sentiments, but admitted that not everything about their relationship was going good. “We’re not the perfect couple. Far from it! But we are trying really hard and we love each other a lot,” he stated.

Of course, the cancellation of the wedding could end up meaning nothing down the road, especially if Higgins and Bushnell work through their differences. According to Elite Daily, however, the situation looks pretty dire.

“I think you’re ready to start a life,” Higgins told Bushnell in the episode. “I’m not ready for that – not even close.”

This isn’t the first time Higgins and Bushnell have fought rumors of a breakup. When Higgins agreed to marry Bushnell on The Bachelor finale, Bushnell was shocked to learn that he told his runner-up, JoJo Fletcher, that he loved her.

Months after the finale, Bushnell opened up about Higgins’ feelings for Fletcher and admitted that his confession hurt their relationship.

“For a long time, I was really angry for being blindsided… I was heartbroken. And that resentment and anger affected our relationship much longer than it should have,” she explained.

There’s no telling if Higgins and Bushnell can turn things around. Fans can only hope that the wedding cancellation is temporary and the pair get their romance back on track in the near future.
