Actress Lisa Lynn Masters Of ‘Gossip Girl’ And ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Reportedly Hangs Herself In Peru [Video]

Actress and model Lisa Lynn Masters, of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Law & Order: Special Victim’s Unit, and Gossip Girl fame, reportedly took her own life this week in Peru. The 52-year-old stunner was reportedly visiting the country for a modeling gig when she was found deceased in her room’s closet at the Nuevo Mundo hotel in Lima on November 15.

As People reports, when actress Lisa Lynn Masters was found, she had apparently hanged herself with her skirt, and her death is being investigated as a probable suicide. Reportedly, Lima authorties do no suspect foul play of any kind in connection with Masters’ unexpected passing.

Masters had reportedly been struggling with her mental health, including suffering from depression, for quite some time. Among her effects, first responders to the scene reportedly found prescription antidepressant medication. As The Mirror reports, Peruvian officials also claim to have found two letters in the hotel room that reflected on Lisa Lynn Masters’ mental state and mental health struggles. Presumably, those letters were written by Masters herself, before she took her own life.

The Los Angeles Times reports that upon finding actress Lisa Lynn Masters deceased in her hotel room’s closet, Peruvian police officers also found directions for contacting her family on her cell phone.

The death of actress Lisa Lynn Masters has been confirmed by her agent, Christopher D. Silveri, who spoke out about his deceased client with love and affection in a statement released to the media.

“In these darkening days, we hope those who have had the pleasure of knowing her will see how brightly she shined and will find that light within themselves and continue to share it with others — just as she would have.”

Lisa Lynn Masters had an eclectic and prolific acting and modeling career prior to her untimely and tragic death. She frequently made appearances, sometimes regularly, on some of the highest-rated and most popular TV series’ in America, perhaps most notably having a recurring role as a therapist on Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. In the aftermath of her unexpected death, actress Lisa Lynn Masters’ husband, William Brooks, is reported to be in shock, as well has dealing with the financial and bureaucratic nightmare of having Masters’ remains repatriated to the United States to be memorialized. To that end, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help with Lisa’s final expenses, as well as to help ease Brooks’ financial burden in the coming weeks and months.

According to the GoFundMe campaign, which had a goal of $30,000 and has already raised over $40,000 in just two days, at the time of her death, actress Lisa Lynn Masters and her husband, Brooklyn residents of long-standing, had been living “modestly.” Further, the campaign says that William is a “healing arts practitioner” who will be dealing with financial hardship in the wake of his wife’s tragic passing.

“Lisa’s genuine warmth, generosity and tenacious strength will be deeply missed.”

Lisa and her husband were married in 2004, after struggling to “make it” as an actress for years, reports The Mirror. Lisa Lynn Masters’ first “big” acting role was in 1998’s The Siege. Unfortunately, her scenes in the flick were ultimately cut in the editing process.

Her “big break” was 2004’s The Stepford Wives; according to comments Lisa made to her local newspaper after snagging her role in the blockbuster, she initially thought it was going to be a TV movie.

“This is Nicole Kidman’s next movie’, and I about passed out.”

In recent years, Lisa enjoyed increasing success on the small screen, and her most recent television roles have largely been her most notable and recognizable. Her final acting roles were reportedly parts in The Girl In The Book, and Fishbowl, both released in 2015. Despite her small screen success, Lisa Lynn Masters reportedly never took her career for granted, and she spoke to her friends about the challenges she’d faced as an aspiring actress.

“Thanks guys! I appreciate your acknowledgment. It’s a brutal and heart breaking biz. I been cut out, rejected, and been passed on many more roles and jobs you can’t even imagine.”

The above comment was reportedly made in response to a friend who congratulated her on one of her hard-fought roles.
