Selena Gomez May Attend The American Music Awards, Will Justin Bieber Be Seen At The Event?

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber may both be seen at the upcoming 2016 American Music Awards.

As news hits the web claiming Bieber will make a cameo appearance at the upcoming event, via satellite, news of Selena Gomez’s potential attendance has also been noted.

“Justin Bieber will be performing at this Sunday’s American Music Awards via satellite, according to show organizers,” the Daily Mail confirmed to readers on November 16.

Bieber is currently in Europe tending to his Purpose World Tour and on Sunday, when the awards show takes place, the 22-year-old Canadian singer will be in Zurich, Switzerland.

“The long-distance appearance from the ‘Boyfriend’ singer will spare the Biebs the awkwardness of a potential backstage run-in with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez at the Microsoft Theater, the Los Angeles venue the show will be held from,” the outlet added.

Selena Gomez wasn’t initially expected to be in attendance during the event, but earlier this week, E! News confirmed an appearance was very possible. On Thursday, the American Music Awards’ show producer, Larry Klein, confirmed that Gomez may be attending Sunday’s event and an additional source told E! News that Gomez would be there.

During Sunday’s show, Selena Gomez and her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, will actually be competing against one another for the Artist of the Year Award during the ceremony.

Over the summer, while in the midst of her Revival World Tour, Selena Gomez announced she would be taking some time off from the spotlight to address her ongoing struggles with Lupus, which had led to bouts with panic attacks, depression and anxiety.

“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” Selena Gomez told the magazine on August 30. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

Just weeks prior, Selena Gomez had performed a show in Auckland, New Zealand, and around the same time, she got caught up in a messy splat online with Justin Bieber after he posted a photo of then-flame Sofia Richie and threatened to make his account private.

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off,” she continued. “Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues.”

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber’s Instagram fight began after Justin Bieber claimed he would make his account private due to the backlash Richie was receiving. According to Bieber, if his fans weren’t going to be nicer to the model, they weren’t really his fans. The singer also shared another photo of himself and Richie around this time.

While Selena Gomez didn’t initially prompt a fight with her ex-boyfriend, she shared a message which didn’t sit well with the singer. After telling Bieber that his fans have been there for him from the start, Selena Gomez suggested he refrain from sharing any additional photos of Richie and was immediately accused of using him for attention.

After Bieber shockingly accused his ex-girlfriend of using him, Selena Gomez fired back by reminding him that it was her who forgave him after he cheated on her multiple times during their years-long romance.
